When I began planning our trip and subsequently booked all our ADR's we had 5 people going. Now our oldest DS has decided to come on the trip. How hard is it to change ADR's from 5 people to 6? Does anyone have any experience with a similar situation? We will be going in December. Looking for some DISer wisdom here. Thanks!

I would think it wouldn't be that hard...I mean for a party of 5 aren't they probably seating you at a rather large table to begin with?

If you want to be able to eat all together at your chosen restaurants, then you should call ASAP and try to rebook. You will probably be able to change some, maybe not all.
You are most likely all ready sitting at a table for 6. But if you just show up with more people than your ADR they do not have to seat you - they could turn you away.
It is better safe than sorry.
Good Luck

I agree - most likely, you are already at a table for 6 and adding your 6th person will not be a big deal.

I had a reservation for 7 at CRT - needed to add one more. It was no problem. They didn't even cancel that ADR and book a new one. They were easily able to add the 8th person. (Now, the 9th person - that's another story. There WAS a problem adding the 9th person).

I'm in a similar situation, but mine is a bit more difficult. I am going in 44 days and made all my ADRs for 4 people, way back in March. My sister just decided to come with us. While I'm very excited she is coming, I freaked out about all my ADRs. I called Disney Dining and could only change a few of the reservations. Since we were a party of 4, we were at a table that seats only 4. I will keep calling and see if Cali Grill or Le Cellier opens up for 5, but I don't have high hopes for those two!

Since you are going from a party of 5 to 6 here is my suggestion.........try to call and change as many of the ADR's that you can..........you might not be able to change many of if any of them. Take the changed ones that you can get and then just show up for the others.............the worst that can happen is that they will turn you away..............but it will all depend on what part the month of December you are visiting in. For instance, if you are going during the Holiday season,,,,,,Christmas to New Years.........you probably would be turned away.........but if you are traveling during the down weeks after Thanksgiving you should be ok.

We were considering taking a sixth person also and I called just to see which reservations could accomodate an extra person and 7 of my 9 reservations could do it for me. The only ones that I could not change were Chef Mickey and Whispering Canyon Cafe. Good Luck.

Thank you everyone! I guess I'll be calling today to see what can be done to accomodate our 6th guest :goodvibes

We had ADR's for 2 on our last trip. We met up with my uncle while we were there. I went to the podium at the restaurants openings and asked if I could add one person. The hostess pulled up my ressies and said no problem, just come a little early. It took a few minutes longer to be seated (20 minutes or so) but it worked out without a problem. The ressies were at 50's PTC and LTT. Good Luck!!

I just called and was able to get all but one -- and on that one we just had to change the reservation to 10 minutes later. Worked out great! Thanks for all the advice!

I will keep calling and see if Cali Grill or Le Cellier opens up for 5, but I don't have high hopes for those two!

My husband and I always eat in the lounge in Carl's section. Often times I've seen the waitstaff put tables together in the lounge to accommodate parties. You may have luck with this if you can't get the ADR changed. Good luck!
