we just got back yesterday from another wonderful visit to the world---so much so we finally bought into the vacation club!!!!

anyways while everything went great we noticed the bus system was terrible--worse then we ever remembered

the day we went to epcot 5 yes 5 animal kingdom buses came with in minutes of each other

we must have waited almost 30 minutes

they had a new member breakfast for us at BLT and were heading to HS so we just caught the bus at the CR--this time 4 animal kingdom before ours finally came

we still wonder what the big push was for animal kingdom was

the final straw was we went to BLT since we could watch wishes from the top of the tower--which was incredible

so then to get back to CBR we had to take the bus back with everyone that was leaving the MK our stop wrapped around both sections 31 and 32 one bus was filling we knew we werent going to make that one

and we waited one PC came filled and left--then one came in blank we figured that would be ours nope he picked up again at PC when a third bus came for PC they had people there directing everyone so I told him what was happening--he wasnt sure either so he actually went to find out and found me in line to tell me he had 2 more CBR buses dispatched and said the one with no sign made a mistake and was supposed to be for CBR--I felt better that he actually went and found someone and took care of the problem

I would like to email someone in Disney transport to let them know how poorly the buses were handled--Im sure IM not the only one

does anyone have an address where I could send it off to--thanks and it would be greatly appreciated

I don't have contact info but...this is exactly why I drive everywhere.

I stayed at CBR last May. I was there for the 24 hour day, when MK opened at 6. I got to the bus stop at 5:40 AM and saw a whole bunch of people there. There was a guy on the phone with someone, and I heard him say that he had been waiting for 40 minutes. When I heard that, I turned around and got in my car. If he'd been waiting 40 minutes, that means no buses had come to that stop yet. I figured I would miss rope drop at the time I arrived, but I feel bad for those people who'd arrived at the bus stop an hour before park open and missed rope drop.

Sorry to hijack :offtopic:, but just wanted to ask how you liked the 24-hour day at MK. Was it super-crowded the whole time, or were you able to get a lot done?

OP, I agree bus service can be annoying. We had a similar problem with boat service a week and a half ago at the Contemporary, waiting out at the freezing dock for 30 minutes, then 2 boats showed up at once.:(

We are here now at ASMo, last night was the only time we will ride the bus, waited 45 min around 5pm for a bus to Epcot. One driver from a Blizzard Beach bus actually passed us twice, so on the second trip he radioed to check on the bus said it would be right along, about 5min later, a very crowded bus pulled up. We have found it much quicker and easier to drive this trip. We even got parking so close for AK and MK that we didn't have to ride the tram!

We (husband and I) got there when the park opened at 6 and had a TON of success early. I was pregnant at the time, but DH went and rode all 3 mountains with no wait. They were actually sending empty boats down Splash Mountain! I rode Winnie the Pooh, Little Mermaid, small world, and Pirates with no wait. I think there were 2 other people in my boat at Pirates. DH rode Mine Train with a FP+ later and we also had FP+ for Haunted Mansion and Peter Pan. It was pretty hot and we left around 2, and then came back around 6 or so. We had an ADR at BOG for dinner, and were seated within 10 minutes of our ADR time. We left around 9 for the night...I was pretty tired...we had flown in the night before and not gotten a lot of sleep. If I hadn't been pregnant, I probably would have stayed longer. It seemed much more crowded at night than it had first thing in the morning.

I returned from WDW on Sunday...was there for a week. I have to say that this trip I had very good bus service! And I was at BWVs!!! I think it's really hit or miss most of the time. I do know that I overheard people complaining about the length of time they had been waiting....not sure why since they got there after I did, waited for the same park bus and that bus came about 10 mins after I got to the bus stop!!!!
But it is annoying when you're waiting for the, say, DHS bus, and you see 3 or 4 AK buses pull up, one after another!!! Not sure why that happens..unless it's an EMH at AK, but still they shouldn't need that many buses so close to each other.

My last several trips I stayed offsite so I did not ride the buses. Before that (2003 and before) I don't recall any problems with bus service (All Stars, Pop Century, Riverside, Coronado Springs). But maybe that was before making rope drop became such a fad. At any rate, I had no problems driving to Epcot, Animal Kingdom or the Studios to make rope drop. (Somehow I did not try to make Magic Kingdom RD.)

I would hope that those who actually arrived at the bus stop at 4:50 AM for the 6 AM RD were not among those still waiting when 5:40 came 'round. You really can't cut it close because if there is only one more bus that can get you there on time, there is a big chance it will be too full for you.

Given all the Disney trip reports lamenting the poor bus service, next time I run into a delay when riding the Boston MBTA buses and subway (which I do often) I should take a deep breath and repeat to myself, "Things could be worse. I could be at Disney."

We rented a car the last few trips. We will not do the WDW without a rental again.
We like coming and going as we please to the parks and other resorts for meals, not worrying about standing on the bus or having a long wait.
We can go to church in Celebration as well as make grocery stops for snack and drinks.
So far, we've gotten great deals on rentals at MCO.
Having a car makes the week more relaxed for us.
