I also say to wait until cruise to purchase.

They will have a meeting on board about DVC. Go to that meeting. They incentives and price to purchase are much better on board. We had a cruise in March and almost added on then. We are doing a bounceback cruise in November and will probably add on then.

I usually don't care about buying some items at the resort either, but beer is a different story.
They only have yucky beer, like Bud and Heineken. I need my Sam Adams.
Oh, and I forgot to mention.. Beer is $6 per can!! Yes, a six pack will cost roughly $36... And that's for the garbage beer!

That is frustraiting. Frankly though, the direct disney prices for BCV and BWV are pretty bad right now. If you just want a small contract, I suppose direct is your best bet. But if you want a larger contract, why not go with a nice resale. If you make it clear to your guide that BCV/BWV is what you are in the market to buy and if she can't sell it you know a quide who can or you have the paperwork ready on a resale, I think she may cave.

I called DVC directly just to satisfy my own curiosity. We are about ready to make a purchase and are looking for just the right contract at BCV or BWV. As I explained to the guide Epcot is really our base for our trips. We enjoy all the parks of course, but just seem to spend more time at Epcot than anywhere else. She was relentless in trying to sell me on BLT "oh it's so beautiful, just a short monorail ride to Epcot". I said yes, but just not the same as a quick walk to the international gateway. She then moved on the the much higher maintenance fees, the contract expirations etc...I told her when the older contracts expire we will be 80 and 90, she still would not budge. BLT is beautiful, but just not for us. It really felt like an old style car buying experience.

Yes, but it IS more than a fortune. The onsite Hess gas stations are cheaper. I don't know if they have wine, but they do have beer.

We ordered food from Disney last time, and had an extremely nice cast member deliver our groceries. They were out of bananas and he personally went and double checked to make sure.

We tend to use Disney because we only buy a few basic items, and usually don't drink alcohol.

People should never forget that your "Guide" is a salesperson. Their job is to seperate you from your money. That is how they earn a living. Our guide was great, after just two or three talks we were convinced to buy resale.

We had a similar experience back when VWL was for sale by Disney. I wanted BWV or the rumored BCV. The guide I talked to said we could only purchase VWL. I then did more research and learned about resales. Saved alot of money that I wouldn't have known about had the guide offered to at least wait list us on some BWV points.

This is completely true, but a truly good sales person can do that without giving you the used car salesman approach. How many people really buy on their initial call? Not many I bet. They should make you want to call THEM back and not someone else. Yes?

That said, I wouldn't want to do their job. My artwork does require me to advertise it, but I don't have to push it. It sells itself as IMO, a Disney Timeshare does.

Yes, it's definetely items from the resort store which are grossly overpriced and very limited. You would be much better off using Green Grocer or another type of service such as that. I'm a new member and I'm excited about it but definetely did not join for extra "perks" that come with membership because there really aren't many.

Better take off those rose colored glasses and take some time to learn more about the DVC. The food selection is limited and sold at the inflated Disney price.

I checked the price of my regular cereal (which amazingly they had) -- Kashi Go Lean -- at BWV's market; it was about $7.00 for a box -- more than twice regular price at home, altho I usually get it on sale for about $2.50. But, I drive (or rent a car if I fly) and it's easy to get to Publix or Walmart. The selection of stuff at SSR was much less, if I recall correctly.

Garden Grocer will deliver anything you want wine/beer/cigarettes included just tell them in the remarks section what you want. They deliver to the resort and either they or the bellman bring all the groceries up to your room. If its GG they will put everything away too (frig/freezer). its especially nice not to schlep groceries + a case of H2O up to the unit.
I give GG the est. time of my arrival and usually when I get my room number, I'll call GG and within a few minutes they arrive with the groceries.

We typically order a couple of weeks in advance. Prices are reasonable (IMO) and there's a $12 delivery charge. We've been very happy both times we used them.
