Wonderful Panama Canal Sept 2014

Happy Easter! We are joining this thread to greet you all and get to know some of our fellow cruisers. We are a family of five, traveling with DH, DD16, DD12 and DS10, and we are joined by my parents and my brother and his DW, DS7 and DD4. I think that nearly doubles the number of kids on the cruise. Lol.

We've been booked for three months but it took me a few weeks to read through all 111 pages of posts. What a communicative and entertaining bunch!

This is my 6th Disney Cruise, and of course Disney is my favorite, but I've been on about 10 other cruises or so, most recently SE Asia in 2012 and Mediterranean in 2013. We cruised the Panama Canal in 2009 on Celebrity and although we will miss a stop in Costa Rica on Disney, the rest of the ports are the same.

Our family lives in San Diego, the grandparents are in Boise, ID and my brother and his family are coming from Puyallup, WA. I see there are fellow cruisers from Puyallup...small world! Looks like most of you are well prepared for your stay/travel to San Diego, but I've lived here for 20+ years if you have any questions.
Looking forward to reading more and the building excitement as our adventure draws closer!
Take care,
GayLynn

I too would like to :welcome::welcome::welcome: CruisingSD, GayLynn and family, to the cruise. So glad ya'll are joining us. Happy to hear you made it thru reading all of the posts. Again, welcome aboard!!!:cool1::banana:

There's something in the air, I've been restless for a while now.i only have one vacation planned and I'm used to three at a time so I'm always planning something. It's just plain weird not to have a bunch on my plate.

I know what you mean Steve. As of right now, we have 3 planned - in the works. It tends to keep you pretty busy. When we get on board the Wonder, I am going to book another Disney cruise. So after this Panama Canal cruise is over with, we'll still have 3 planned. LOVE IT!!!!

What a small world, I can't believe there will be another family on the cruise from Puyallup :yay: That is so cool. I think your bunch did double the number of kids, they should all have a blast because they will have the run of the place while all of us adults will be struggling to find a pool chair :beach:

:welcome: :welcome: :welcome: GayLynn and family!!! Glad you are joining us!!!

Thank you for the warm welcome! :goodvibes

DD16, Lauren, was excited to hear there is another 16 year old on board and if I remember correctly, Hannah is a Dr. Who fan too!

Becky, I wonder if you have crossed paths with DB and DSIL in Puyallup. I grew up in Olympia and love the NW.

Cayla, I would love to have you add us to FB, but alas I am one of the few hold outs who doesn't have a FB page. We would, however, like to participate in the FE. Probably just 1 of our cabins, however, as I think DD12 will spearhead the fun. She's our crafty one.

Looking forward to hearing more about everyones' plans for the ports!
Blessings,
GayLynn

LOL - no problem - if you want one I can add the kids if they are on FB. That is up to you.

I am not running the FE - that would be Bev. There is a link on the first post to sign up - you do not have to sign all the cabins up of course!

How to pack for 60 days just using your carry on luggage!

http://www.youtube.com/embed/PDn9l20NlWw?feature=oembed

I thought it was a joke, but he's for real! He uses the same packing technique as the lady who's videos I posted, but he eliminates the plastic dry cleaner bags in between layers. I think the bags will help eliminate wrinkling, but otherwise the technique is the same and it's awesome! No more folding clothes to pack them. The last couple of trips we took, we used the 2-1/2 gallon ziploc bags to pack things, squeezing out the air before zipping. It worked well, but I can see that packing the way shown in the video will utilize all the space in the suitcase, rather than having unused pockets that are left when you fold and pack.

I can't wait to try the technique! We're taking a short five-day trip to visit family in IN the end of next month, so I'll get a chance to try packing everything in my carry-on for that trip. I'm not such an optimist that I think I could pack for the Panama cruise in a carry-on, but the technique will still work with any suitcase.

we've done it twice so far. We just booked it and when the 'bill' came at the end it was $0. We did of course, add a tip, but yes, you can use your platinum free Palo's meal at brunch.

i believe they are more strict about it now i thought i read it somewere that now it is only to be used for dinner

I feel kinda' guilty that I didn't post this last night but yesterday's teefury tee of the day was Belle and the TARDIS. Threadless has it, just not the color I got (I picked up a sand color, which I have a princess tutu in a creamy coffee color that it will match with). Here's the link to threadless:

I know we have some "Doctor Who"/Disney fans and yay for being nerds!

i have a question for those that can book excursions and other stuff next month will there also be a day to day itenery in what day what kind of dinner there will be like when is pirate night when is the golden mickeys

Thanks for sharing. As I said, I've done it, last time was December. I didn't think it counted as it DOES say dinner, but it did. Seems it's a bit unevenly applied from what I read. Since this is a 14 night cruise, I plan on booking both anyway. Brunch on my booking date and dinner later after everyone has their initial booking opportunity. With as many sea days as there is, it should not be an issue getting both.

true im doing the brunch with the group first so i will only book the dinner before but im planing to do at least one more brunch

No but you can go on Scott Sanderson's blog (DCL Blog) and download all the Navigators for the last EBPC cruise as well as menus.

I believe that on your booking date you can book both a brunch and a dinner. If you want more you'll have to wait until after boarding. Make sure that you book your brunch first though as they tend to book out quicker than the dinners. Of course on a 14-day cruise with so many at sea days I doubt that will happen.
