Wonderful Panama Canal Sept 2014

I think best friend time, especially one you haven't shared time with I two years trumps a train ride!

Some of us can't even go to DL...too much time off in one shot!

We get 1 day together and we were joined at the hip in junior high, high school, and college, and I moved 1500 miles away. So we're excited. There will be burritos. We are already planning this part of the trip.

We are booked at the Villa's at Boardwalk and the Villa's at The Grand Floridian!! So excited And our youngest son, Tim, is going to be able to join us for the whole time in Florida, it will be great to see him after being apart for six months

Since we have never been to DL, I'm going to defer to you all who have been to DL for a nice place to meet and have a meal or drink. Any place will be good for us.

Well, we are awaiting another 'fun' winter blast.
Rain to sleet with about 1/4 - 1/2 inch ice accumulation followed by either 6 - 10 or 8 - 12 inches of snow.
When did we move to the frozen north?...

We hit 85 yesterday; today we started at 32° and we have been dropping steadily all day~ expecting morning temps of low 20s!!! We have officially decided this is MARCH MADNESS!

Our weather has been weird. We are yesterday it hailed, then snowed, then last night just misty rain. Today it's gray. Whatever. I'm good with gray. I'm wearing neon.

For us here in Florida, yesterday was beautiful, blue skies, not a cloud in sight, high around 78 or 80 degrees. Today, repeat of yesterday. By Wednesday, they say we will have some rain in the forecast and a cool front moving in to lower our temps to around 70 degrees.

OT, but I'm so excited! My eldest son is a Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy, following in his father's footsteps as it were. We just found out that he has been selected for promotion to Chief Warrant Officer! So very proud of him, he's Number one of the four in his career field selected! He puts on his new rank in October. His father has already informed him he will not be saluting him!
Seriously, we are so very proud….

OT, but I'm so excited! My eldest son is a Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy, following in his father's footsteps as it were. We just found out that he has been selected for promotion to Chief Warrant Officer! So very proud of him, he's Number one of the four in his career field selected! He puts on his new rank in October. His father has already informed him he will not be saluting him!
Seriously, we are so very proud….

CONGRATULATIONS to your son Stephanie. Thank him for Donna and me for serving and for protecting us.

Just booked flights outbound and inbound on Southwest Airlines; it was a full six hundred dollars cheaper for both of us to fly Southwest than on American. Also booked the train from Disneyland / Anaheim, San Diego! Things are falling into place.

I just booked our return flight on SW. Unfortunately the only flight that made sense was at 6:45 so we will be spending some time at the airport. At least we will not have to rush off the ship.

Hi Becky's husband! . No, sorry, Benjamin will not be on this cruise or in Florida. One funny thing...My DH is a retired Chief Petty Officer and is having great fun with him leaving the enlisted ranks. He changed the ringtone on his phone for Benjamin to Darth Vader's theme because he's going to the "dark side!" Benjamin comes from a long line of military on both sides of the family, but he is the first one to become an officer. We are very proud of him.

I had problems online and ended up calling. Spouse and I and David & wife booked business/ reserved seats on the Sept. 12 @ 9:08 am .

Actually, no seat assignments in advance. Kind of like SWA. We just meet at train station and board together.

CAR POOL UPDATE: For those who expressed an interest in carpooling from DL area to San Diego~
WE ARE 'train pooling'! It worked out better to take Amtrak from Anaheim to San Diego on the 12th. , 9:08 am- reserved, business class seats for $84.00 , or less with senior /AAA/military discount, for 2 adults.
3 couples are booked. Let's us know when you do.

The plan will be to meet at the train station so we can board and sit together. The Anaheim station is appx. 5 miles from DL and get the main station in SD is less than 2 mi from the port.

You can book online at Amtrak.com or call them for reservations.

Congrats for your son and for you! I was a Navy Mom for 4 years; but, DS got out in 2007-got married in 2007 and made us grandparents in 2007. I kind of wish he had stayed in but am very grateful they live close by!
