Wonderful Panama Canal Sept 2014

BBKeough- me and my friends are seriously like 2 hours from you. We could bump into each other at the airport and it wouldn't be totally weird at all.

I saw that, so cool, such a small world..pun intended :rotfl: I know right, the only thing is would not recognize each other. I will have to figure out how to post pictures here :confused3

What day are you flying down to SD for the cruise?

I can do something with my cricut. I stock up on neon paper during winter months (I live in gray Washington...I just bought neon yellow yarn). I have the Disney cartridge. I could get crafty.

Here's my shoe planning:
-Orthaheel flip flops (walking flip flops, good for water play. Plus I have size 11 wide foot and these are comfy. They're bronze/brown.)
-Birkenstock dressy sandals- still comfy but dressy (and named after my favorite place to travel. Tahiti. My mom got these for me because she saw the name) http://www.qvc.com/Birkis-by-Birkenstock-Moorea-Soft-Footbed-Sandals-Search-Results.product.A223599.html?sc=A223599-SRCH&cm_sp=VIEWPOSITION-_-6-_-A223599&catentryImage=http://images-p.qvc.com/is/image/a/99/a223599.001?$uslarge$
-Black ballet sparkle flats... I don't do heels. I mean I can, but I am near six foot and clumsy...They work for dressy night or any night.

I am wearing on the flights:
http://www.zappos.com/skechers-performance-gowalk-2-circuit-gray
They are super comfy, lightweight, and even though my sister calls them "old lady shoes" they're comfy. Oh and easy to slip on and off.

Hope that helps!

There is a $79 Jet Blue flight that I want to buy, but I want to wait until Southwest comes out with their flight info.

I LOVE :lovestruc the Sketchers Go Walk shoes, they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. I got two pairs last time we went to WWD, in bright blue and orange. I ended up wearing them everyday because it was so comfortable to walk all day in them :goodvibes I will be getting more before this cruise and WWD trip too!!

I would also love to see one. We will be out 2 1/2 weeks total and there's no way I want to do laundry unless it is ABSOLUTELY necessary. And where is the best and cheapest place to find the luggage locks that you all are referring to. I'm so glad this came up because it's not something that would have crossed my mind until it was time to fly. I'm soooo excited because I've only ever flown twice before and the last time was 1995 :rolleyes1. Mom and I are also on deck 2. She didn't want to pay for a balcony but insisted on a porthole. I don't plan on being in my cabin anyway unless I'm getting dressed for dinner or going to bed. How many pairs of shoes are the rest of you gals bringing? I'm thinking 1 pair of sneaker/walking shoes, 1 pair of sandals, and 1 or 2 pair of dress type shoes that I can wear for dinner regardless of the type of evening that is being celebrated. :confused3 I've never been on a vacation that lasted longer than 10 days and involved so many different situations. Congrats on the weight loss Kim. Keep up the good work. I'm looking for a gym partner to spend 30-45 minutes a day burning calories if your interested. Just let me know.

You can find luggage locks everywhere: Target, Walmart, luggage stores, some drugstores like CVS and Walgreens.

I got an incline trainer for Christmas and I've been trying to walk routinely. Today, I put Dexter on Netflix and walked for 75 minutes. How would the 'gym partner' work? Hold each other accountable? I really need to stick with it because my clothes aren't fitting and I refuse to buy bigger.

Two things:

1.) If I am doing the meet I can make "ID tags" for members. All I would have to do is play with my cricut. I have neon paper that I can cut out Mickey heads. When we get there we can put our Disboards name and real name? Maybe room number?

2.) I bought shorts for the cruise. I was told that you shouldn't wear jeans on this cruise because of the heat and humidity (and I live in Western Washington where it's 80 as the high- and we're all dying of heat). So I got these itty bitty plaid shorts that don't make my legs look super pale. But the big accomplishment? SIZE 14! And they're loose!:yay: Thought y'all would laugh. So I'm looking at a few smaller outfits.

I think the "ID tags" are a great idea. It is nice of you to offer to make them .

Congratulations on your weight loss!!!

I think shirts would be fun, I love t-shirts, but know that may not work for everyone. I think that name tags ahead of time would be great to, that way we can recognize each other on the first day on board and even in the terminal while waiting to board :cheer2: I know we are all going to be best buds by the time Sept. gets here :chat:

I have a lime green dis nametag that my ex and I had made before our 2004 cruise. It has my dis name on it.
We do have Costco, I will have to check that out too! Thanks :)

Me too, me too!

I will definitely have to pick up 6 of these since we have 4 checked and 2 carry ons. Did you say to wait until you clear security to lock the carry on? Yes gym partner means being accountable to each other mainly to show up. I don't usually talk while im on the machines, but then again I'm usually alone. With my lapband being empty for this trip I'd like to try not to gain more than 14lbs, the usual 1lb per day and I think it will take more than lounging around the pool to do that.

Southwest is booking out til the 8th of August so I figure Sept will open by the end of March. :confused3

I cannot wear flip flops. I wish I knew why but they make me walk weird. My mother found some cute little neoprene "shoes" in some catalog she gets and ordered us both a pair to wear to the pool. I liked the looks of those sketcher walking shoes and think I will order me a pair to wear with shorts, and I need to find me a nice pair of flat dress shoes that are comfy to me. I don't like to wear heels. My toes don't appreciate them at all.

Since I don't have much experience with flying do you recommend wearing shorts or jeans on the plane? I'm leaning toward jeans. That way I will have a pair with me but don't have to add to the weight of the suitcase. Any advice from the more experienced?

Mother and I will also be dressing up for pirate night pirate:. We will be going costume shopping in a few months. Oh the memories we are going to make.pixiedust::dance3:

Susan,

I do wear jeans on the plane, comfy ones. I usually get cold and like you said you have a pair with you but did not have to pack them. I do the same thing with a jacket or sweater. Becky

I just booked our hotel in SD for two nights :cheer2: We check in on the 10th. Staying at Embassy Suites San Diego Bay Downtown with a bay view. I like that it is within walking distance of a lot of things and they have a free breakfast, and a Starbucks coffee shop in the lobby, we are from the Seattle area so I love me some Starbucks :coffee: The only bad part is the pool is inside, but I figure I will get plenty of sun on the cruise. Anyone else staying at the same hotel? It would be fun to have a group meet for breakfast or coffee the on the 12th before heading to the terminal :woohoo:

We are not going to rent a car, I think we can just walk or get a taxi since things are close. Parking at the hotel is 39.00 a night  The farthest away attraction would be SeaWorld and it is only 5 miles, so doable :yay:

We are flying down the 10th. I think the plan is for Em to work the night before, have her stuff in the car, get off work at 0730, let her change at the hospital, leave Anacortes at like 0800, get to the airport by 11ish? then our flight leaves around 2pm? We'll be the group of three women all kinda' bigger and loud.

We're looking at the 2 something flight on Jet Blue to Long Beach.

We are flying down on United, into SD, leave at about 8:00 am and get in at 12:15, with a stop in San Fran. It sure can't get here soon enough for me, I hope that time goes by quickly :rolleyes1

I bought mine from Amazon online. I thought their price was pretty good. :thumbsup2

Sounds just like DW and I. When it gets close to the holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas, we tend to slack off on the exercising. So for those two months...............well actually well into January as well, we are just eating, smiling and eating and smiling........................well you get the picture. So now the clothes are feeling a wee bit tight. Time to hit the ol' elliptical or as I like to call it "The Torture Machine!!!" It ain't fun...................it ain't exciting...............it's nothing I look forward to do....................it's just plain ol' TORTURE!!!! But I do it to get the big ol' belly down to an acceptable size and to keep the ol' ticker in good shape. Plus, like Maria, I don't want to go out and buy new clothes!!!:lmao:

And, one last thing concerning THE TORTURE MACHINE. DW tells me we cannot go for 2 or 3 weeks without exercising on this cruise. We are going to have to hit the exercising room/gym on board the ship. Oh my aching back!!!! What fun is that?!??!? This ain't gonea be a purtty site folks...........seeing a grown man cry!!!

I am going to sound like a schmuck but I run/walk a mile daily with my boys/dogs. It's not a pretty mile, but I do it. And now my dogs are waiting at the door when I get off work and they're like "okay we're going. Come on, we're going!" If I don't take them immediately after work, they whine and harass me until I do. Best way to get myselfto work out, my golden retriever's guilt tripping face. If you need someone to hold you accountable... That's also how I get out of bed in the morning/night. I feed my cat first thing when I wake up. She screams at me until I wake up.

We're paid off now! I wanted to make sure all of us got paid off early because I didn't one someone straggling last minute.

Locks: lock checked bags from home, carry on after security checkpoint.

Shoes:
I hate really cheap flip flops- can't walk in them either. Try REEF brand- they're better than barefoot! Bought first pair on an acquaintances recommendation while vacationing in Hawaii in 2003 and I am a true devotee now.

Nice, cute, comfy flats: I buy Ros Homerson brand. I always have trouble finding a really comfy fit and this brand, while not the cheapest, fits terrific. I find I can wear them all day long and not have sore, tired, aching feet. I order online, usually from Shoebuy.com because there is free shipping both ways. I order several styles and sizes and keep what I like that fits and return the others.

On the flight: I hate jeans for flying because I like comfortable- it's my middle name. I wear - usually- black, stretchy knit slacks and same material, coordinating shirt so I can move around, look decent and yet be comfortable. I always wear a sweater on board as I get cold easily. Another 'trick' is a coordinating scarf or pashmina which can double as a light blanket should you get cold.

Check out my other flight suggestions that I posted in response to David's question- just a few pages back, I believe.

I'm game with checking in and being accountable on diet and exercise. We can just do PM unless there are a bunch of others who may be interested. I walked 3.6 mi burning 402 cal yesterday and 2.8 mi today burning 316; and, I have been very good on my diet this week.

David: it is fully my intention to get to the gym on each sea day. Again, if several hold each other accountable, maybe our clothes will fit before, during and after the trip!!!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY TO ALL. Hope you are spending it with loved ones!

Thanks for all the great tips Maria :worship:

My husband and I plan on walking around the ship for exercise...anyone who wants to join in is more than welcome...kind of like a fun "mall walk" due to previous back & neck surgeries, there's some things I can't do, but walking & swimming:tiptoe: is good!

Laura and I did walking laps about the deck while on the Alaska trip. I plan on trying the gym and treadmills on this coming trip. Especially when it gets hot and muggy. I melt.
