Wonderful Panama Canal Sept 2014

Hello there:wave2:

We just switched to this cruise and are excited to join all of you, especially Lexa and family:banana: I notice a few other names from the 2013 WBPC as well:)

We were supposed to go on the WBPC but cancelled due to illness. The 2013 WBPC was the beginning of it .... we need the 2014 EBPC to celebrate the end of itpixiedust:

Have a WONDERful weekend, see you in September:beach:

Wow! Y'all got busy while I was gone~~

:welcome: :welcome: to all our new cruisers! Glad you are joining us!
Thanks, David for the tip about the show on Destination America! I just set up our DVR to catch it!! I was supposed to be on the Magic instead of this cruise, but I'm not unhappy with our decision to change! Twice the cruise time! :thumbsup2

We have our air booked….and we are arriving on the morning of the 11th and staying at the Manchester Grand Hyatt. It is not far from the port.

Thank you! All set to record while we are on part 2 of the honeymoon. First aid kits....well - here are some thoughts: -antibiotic cream/ointment -general painkillers - advil/tylenol/aleve -candied ginger for upset tummy/seasickness -ace wrap -zip lock bags (to make ice packs) -antacids -benedryl -ALL YOUR PRESCRIPTIONS -bandaids -mole skin (for blisters) -immodium -miralax -potty wipes (to clean up after the above medications!) -feminine hygiene products (extra - one never knows!) -scissors -medical tape -4x4 dressings -2x2 dressing -anti chafe cream -lamisil cream Other useful items: suction cups (for mirrors to hang up stuff) clips (to hook on the suction cups) extension block/cord - there are 3 outlets and one is for the wave phones if in an inside cabin - some type of nightlight (those cabins are very dark) q tips head bands wind breaker chapstix or carmex bug spray sun screen nail file sewing needle & clear nylon thread solid or spray air freshener for bathroom (they backwash occosionally) Cayla

SALINE/ BOTTLE: I always add a small/med size empty prescription bottle that has been sterilized (boiled) and a bottle of saline solution (saline contact lens solution) just in case one accidentally gets separated from a prized body part. The saline if sealed can be placed with your medicines/scripts and not count towards your carry on liquid allotment.

TAMIFLU and STEROIDS: if you get a script, fill it and should flu-like symptoms or pesky hives/ poison ivy begin, you can be right on top of them.

I too would like to :welcome::welcome::welcome: Brixton and family to the cruise. So glad ya'll are joining us. We are going to have a GREAT time. Hope everyone is all well now and ready to "P AAAA RR T A"!!! (I personally, can't eat spicy foods..........nor drink any alcoholic drinks................nor get much exercise.................nor stay up past 9pm.............nor do I have any great dance moves..........but other then that I'm ready to PARTY DOWN!!!):cool1::banana::dancer:

Good morning all!
We are having a day planning all the elements for this trip (airport parking at home, hotels in SD and Orlando, tickets etc.) and are now on to car hire. We are flying in on Wed 10th and need the car until we join the ship, can we pick up from the airport and return to the cruise terminal, and if so, any recommendations? Then we need the same for the other end, pick up at port but drop off at Orlando International airport Mon 29th.

David- spicy food, booze, and staying up late are all over rated. But I do exercise. I swear like a sailor, I wear ugly clothes, and sweat like one big drip, but... I move it... (oh and I listen to "Glee" when I work out.).

I tried to tape/record that Magic thing, but apparently we don't get that channel. Poo. I found little one use shower gel pods (that won't leak!) at Sephora, if anyone is a freak like me and doesn't like the Disney body wash.

Looking at the Courtyard Marriott by airport or the Holiday Inn Bayside. Anyone stay at these before? The Holiday Inn provides shuttle to ship terminal.

well...if the weatherman is right...we may be snowed in yet again tomorrow night. 10-14" is predicted...ugh. So I guess I'll be working on my FE! Been looking at airfares....JFK to San Diego then Orlando to JFK...$506 non-stops.
:confused3 any thoughts? :rolleyes1

If you can get to Newark, Virgin has a flight for $188.

You might just want to do the ship/ cruise line transfer to the airport from Port Canaveral. From what I found, there are no car rental agencies right at the San Diego port but a few are pretty close including Avis and Hertz.

Well it looks like we now have all of the pieces for a complete round trip in place now.

Home to the Airport - Done
Air Plane Tickets - Bought
Reservations from Airport to Disneyland - Done
Disneyland Hotel - Booked
Trip from Disneyland Hotel to Port San Diego - Signed Up (on DIS Board)
Disney East Bound Panama Canal Cruise - Booked
Car Rental from Port Canaveral to Home - Booked

Now all we have to do is wait until September gets here!!! (Are we there yet!!!)

Hi all - sorry I've been MIA lately, but I did reply to all e-mails in regards to the FE lists and have now updated the first post with all the names of people who want to participate.......if you don't see your DISName there, then please go to the form (linked on that post) and fill it out.

I would say that at this point, the FE Groups will split, I mean we're still 8 mos out and we've already got 33 cabins signed up. I have at least two cabins who want to participate in both lists, but I will (promise) send out a confirming e-mail to ALL of you with a link to the lists and asking you to confirm you are still wanting to participate and to double check cabin numbers, etc, etc so that we get as close to correct as possible.

Opinions, please - how far out should we close the list? Do you think about 6 weeks (closing it on August 3rd) is too far out? Here is my thought, and you can tell me what you think, no worries.....

Close list on August 3rd, split the list as evenly as possible.
If anyone wants to join after that date, start another FE list for them to exchange among themselves .
If any of you want to include the latecomers I will leave that up to you, and will give you access to their names, but will also want you to let me know so that they can also include you in their FE list.......

That's just my two cents, and I am willing to do whatever the majority want.
Let me know - I'll be off and on until taxes are finished for our business.

Thanks all for hanging in there with me!

There are a few really nice hotels within walking distance to the port! If anyone wants suggestions, feel free to ask.

There is a great Embassy Suites, very kid friendly. Liberty Station, which is a stone's throw from the airport, is a an affordable alternative with three hotels and shuttles to port are easy.

When we took the Pixar cruise to San Diego, it was very strange to walk around "our city" for a few hours and see it through the eyes of a DCL passenger.

Of course, we just moved to MA and are under another blizzard warning. This "polar vortex" just keeps giving:rolleyes:

234 days 'til we sail

Hi Beverly!!! Glad see you are back!!! Missed you.

My opinion on the FE List. I think August 3rd is a good closing date. That gives everyone plenty of time to finish up on their FE gifts. And splitting them up as even as possible, is also a good idea. So, I am in total agreement with you. (My two cents worth.)
