Wonderful Panama Canal Sept 2014

That was us with our southern. I really want to do a southern, but there was just ONE sea day and I love sea days. Then I saw this, we LOVED it last time we did it....and well, that's how it happened. :goodvibes

We always try to have at least one cruise that we booked on board one of the ships to use for that much needed cruise whenever we need it. This is the first time we only have just the one - for this Panama Canal Cruise. Usually we would have another one in the works that we can use. So when we get on board the Wonder next year I will be making two on board cruises for the future. We may want to take that Alaska cruise, or a Western Caribbean cruise, or a Med cruise, or a Southern Caribbean cruise, or even another Panama Canal Crossing cruise in the future. We like to have plenty of options to play with. :cool1::banana::cool1::banana: Like you Stephanie, we LOVE:love: those at sea days!!!

Sadly, Chase doesn't want to give me a Disney Visa :sad1:. It's all because I filed for bankruptcy after I got divorced, but I am hopeful that when I reapply in the late winter that will change. It will have been 12 years and my credit is much better with no delinquencies. ::yes::

Just an FYI, from legal: NOTHING (financial) should be counted against you after 7 years! Chase messed up!

It worked out for us THIS time because we had to cancel the Southern to go on this one.....though we COULD have possibly gotten off of this one and flown to San Juan for the Southern.....(DH just :faint: at the very thought :lmao:)

I thought San Juan was pretty. It had this weird magical feel around the fort. The old medical school that's moving to being a police station- with the 200+ year old banyan tree was pretty. I enjoyed mofongo, but I think maybe once was enough for me there. This is going to sound awful but I nearly fell on a courtyard's stairs there... later that trip I did fall though.

Out of any place on the Disney cruises I've been on that I'd go again (aside from Castaway Cay and Cozumel) I'd like to see Grand Cayman again (to explore... I want to go to Hell) and Saint Thomas. I went to a restaurant there that was AMAZING! Sometimes I'll be at work at like 0343 and randomly get the craving for the oxtail stew I had there- and no I'm not pregnant!:rotfl2:

So I think I found the fabric I'm going to use for my fish extender. Everyone gets super Disney with Mickey... I'm a Disney dork, but I'm looking at this starfish print that I like, that or a seahorse. I live in a coastal village/town so I like the idea of a beachy feeling FE. Oh and I found a fabric site if anyone needs fun fabric!

We were on the first Disney cruise into San Juan....beautiful! I wouldn't mind going again. I probably will one day, but I couldn't resist going back through the canal...and Cartegena is absolutely beautiful! Can't wait to go again camera at the ready!!

Can't wait to see your FE, how neat you already have a use for it after the cruise. Mine hangs on the wall in my craft room and I keep photos in the pockets for scrapbooking.

If anyone is looking for a Panama Canal book, this is what they said is good in the 2013 PC thread.

Happy Labor Day everyone! I hope that you are all having a great weekend.
I don't know where the summer went :confused3. It seems like it just started and here we are with September starting tomorrow, but the good news is we are that much closer to our cruise :cool1:

Thanks for posting the information on the Panama Canal book...I just ordered a copy for us!:surfweb:

I feel bad because I was sorta' snooping on another thread. But I wanted to know what they were reading and what they like. I want to know the history of this canal before I go in. That and I thought while I'm diving into Microbiology and Anatomy 2, I should have something fun to read... or Micro.

Oh that said I'm still going to put a "take a book leave a book" bag outside my room (it will be clearly marked), with anything left in the bag to be given to the Guest Services for the crew. :D

..... And looking forward to sailing on her again through the Panama Canal. Our first DCL experience was aboard the Dream, which is a gorgeous ship. We were curious to see how the Wonder would stack up. Even though she is an older ship, her smaller size made it easier to learn our way around.... not to mention fewer steps to get where we wanted to go!

We were in Cabin 6132, which was ideally located close to aft elevators/stairs..... a quick trip up to Deck 9 for the buffet, other casual food venues and the SOFT-SERVE. Even in Alaska, the soft-serve always had customers.

We'll be in a different cabin for the Panama cruise, but as luck would have it my brother-in-law and his wife will be in that cabin on the cruise. We hid a little note in the cabin. It'll be interesting to see if it's found or not before the cruise.

The crew and cast members were wonderful, which was to be expected. While not as glitzy as the Dream, the Wonder has a charm of her own. We especially loved the Cadillac Lounge. We took in a few movies while onboard. Planes was the featured entertainment in the Walt Disney Theater one night, and we also watched Monster's University, Lincoln, and The Long Ranger in the Buena Vista Theater. The Lone Ranger may have been panned by reviewers, but we loved it! Johnny Depp as Tonto is priceless. Those who wanted to see something true to the 1950 TV series will be disappointed.... Tonto is the hero in this one. A really fun movie if you just go with the flow.

We enjoyed every minute of the Alaska trip. I can see us going back someday. But now we'll be looking forward to Caribbean cruise on the Ruby Princess in March 2014, followed by the Disney Panama one following in September. Life is good :)
