Wonder what those rental car companies are thinking?

Okay, this is a pet peeve of mine...wonder if anyone else feels the same way.

I think it is great that the rental car companies give you 2 keys when you rent a car....but what's the use if they bolt them together? If you can't actually keep them in separate places to avoid locking yourself out, wouldn't it be better for them to hang on to the second key?

Besides the total uselessness of 2 keys connected together, it's more cumbersome to carry around. Annoying!!

I know, that bugs me too. Last year I did get a car with keys on a regular key ring that could be separated, but they were duplicates, which meant no remote which was really annoying!

I have broken the ring so I would at least have a key if I lost one. No one has ever said anything when I take the broken ring back.
