Wonder refurbishment?

9/9/16 would be when the Wonder completes the Eastbound Panama Canal cruise, and the next cruise you can book on the Wonder is 11/10/16 out of Galveston. I don't see anything between those--so I'd guess that's when the dry dock would happen (9/10-11/9), and looks like 2 months.

We were on the Wonder for the NYE cruise and overall I thought she was in great shape. I do think the bathrooms need to be re-done, but I think that the bathrooms on the Magic also need an update. Otherwise, I thought the ship looked fantastic! I'd be happy to sail on the Wonder again!!!

Not sure if this was posted elsewhere but we just got off the magic and crew members told us the wonder is planning a 3 month drydock for reimagination!
3 months seems like a very long time for a dry dock. How long was the Magic in dry dock when she got the Duck tail and Aquadunk, anyone remember?

Glad about the recent reviews for mentioning the Wonder is not getting neglected until the dry dock. We are sailing early summer (Memorial day) to Alaska. One side of me would like it to get the same new features that the Magic got to keep them similar, but at the same time, it would be nice for them to get some differences. I'd say, please DO NOT add an aqua duck. If they do add an aqua dunk, I'll be ok with it as it will make it similar to the Magic.

The two younger ships need to keep their character from their bigger siblings I would say...

How cool would it be if they did a Star War theme in the kids club like the Magic has the Avengers! We are planning a 2017 Alaskan cruise so it will be nice for the ship to be updated. The last time we were on the Wonder was in April of 2013.

I was on the Wonder in April and thought it was beautiful and noticed no issues EXCEPT one minor one - we were in stateroom 8540 and there was a smell of mildew towards the front of the room near the door/bathroom and particularly the closet. The rest of the room smelled fine and it didn't negatively impact our experience... but just jumping in for a second confirmation of a strong mildew smell, we were midship (towards aft), deck 8

I just watched the special on TLC last weekend about the reimagining of the Magic and it was in dry dock for just over 5 weeks I believe. They had a TON of people working on it and as it sailed back to the US from Spain they were still working on her (inside the cabins, getting things set up, etc). The Wonder is only missing off the docket for 2 months so she needs to also get to and from Spain in those two months.

We were on the Wonder in mid December and did not notice anything major amiss. There appeared to be an a/c water leak in a hallway, but that got cleared up quickly.

If I remember it was about 2 + months

There was a great deal of work done including stripping the entire hull down to bear metal.

All the DCL vessels are in very good condition and very well mantained the classic lines, beauty and decor of both the Magic and Wonder stand the passage of time.

The Wonder, you have to remember is only middle aged, however she is due for a the reingineering and referb.

I wouldn't take what a crew member says regarding drydock for fact unless it came from one of the Capts or the engineering crews. The Magics was about 2 months give or take. Its possible that the Wonders is shorter, depending on the lock situation at the time. If the locks look like its going to be closer to 1 or 2 years before they finally get there act together, a lot of the things DCL wants to do wont be able to be done. They cant add the Aquadunk and support areas to the upper decks without the ducktail, and they cant add the duck tail and still fit in the existing lock system.

They also tell you that Mickey is steering the ship when the captain is in the atrium, and that the characters cannot speak because they are saving their voices for the shows ;)

Could she be going to Freeport for her drydock? Why do I think I remember reading that???

Also, Wonder did a redo of all her staterooms last year. They took blocks out of service deck by deck. The rooms were fresh & wonderful for the WBPC last May. They shouldn't need to do much if anything with staterooms. :)

Depends on which way the winds blow. In the past DCL has used BAE in Va, Freeport, Vancouver and now Cadiz. The main issue is how easy or cheap is it for DCL to get all of the outside contractors to the dd for the work. Unfortunately it no longer has anything to do with the quality of work anymore. From talking with different people on the ships, Cadiz and Freeport (which btw Carnival owns a major share in) do more damage to the ships, then what they actually fix.

We were on the Wonder for the Panama Canal cruise in October. She is still a beautiful ship and we really did not notice anything I would consider a major issue. The cabins were updated in 2015 and again, no issues. There may be a little wear and tear, but you really have to look for it. They keep the ship very well maintained. Have a wonderful time!

We were on that sailing, too, and I loved the Wonder. We had sailed on the Magic in April 2015 and in January 2014 (soon after refurb) and I thought the Wonder looked better. For sure the staff we encountered was better and they all seemed to love the Wonder
