I don't think there is a lot of difference between the two ships physically. The decor is a bit different and the nightclubs and a few resturants have different names and styles, but the biggest difference is the cruise length and ports of call. The Wonder only does 3 & 4 night cruises to the Bahamas and the Magic does the 7 night Eastern and Western cruises plus the special 10 & 14 night cruises.
Although I wouldn't say I'd never cruise with another line, I feel the service and atmosphere on the DCL outshines the other lines. The ease in embarkation and debarkation is MUCH MUCH better with Disney!!! Of course the kids program is definately better on DCL and the shows and entertainment are geared toward the family. No casinos on DCL and even the "adult comedy" is not as raunchy. I truly appreciate the way DCL make certain areas off limits to the kids, and they enforce the rules!
I think you see more comments & questions about the Magic because there is more to plan and do on a 7 day versus a 3 o4 4 day. (they are all great, but it is more involved planning for a 7 day)
Aha! So I shouldn't be planning for my 3-day 80-something days in advance, and not worrying a second about the 4 days prior in Disney? So THAT'S what I'm doing wrong!
Yikes...if I had to plan for a 7 or more day, I'd have to start 6-9 months ahead of time!
Although Wonder and Magic are identical in size and layout, the main differences are in decor, as well as the names and themes of some of the venues...
That stated, DW and I prefer the decor of the Magic, which is Art Deco - we are big fans of Art Deco....we particularly like the elegance and color scheme of Lumieres vs Tritons...
DCL is, in my opinion, a very unique cruise experience...I don't think there is a cruise line in the mass market category that comes close in terms of service...It is just very special...
I love the Wonder...it is my home! The majority of our 38 cruises have been on the Wonder, mainly because we usually do the three night cruises. Now, when I am on the Magic, it feels like I have gone to Disneyland after being in the Magic Kingdom at Disney World...very similar, but with just enough differences to confuse me
