Wonder-Palo Servers

We had Hristo twice a few weeks ago - for brunch & dinner - and he was great! I had black pants on and he brought me a black napkin without having to be asked. He was polite and proper. He was also friendly, without being "too intrusive." I'd highly recommend him.

He brought us so much food for our dinner that none of us wanted breakfast the next morning.

We had Sasha when we went 2013. He was my favorite waiter in palo. We had awesome service from him. We are going in August this year and we hope we have him again. He was polite and friendly.

Wow! Many of you have had Sasha & were impressed to say the least. We go in October & I'm planning on requesting Tony from Croatia. I'm glad he will still be there. DH said he wants us to request for him again!

In May, our brunch server was Sasha. We have usually had Toni as our server, so we inquired about him and Sasha said he had left the company to spend time with his family. Sasha, however, was great!

We have had Sasha three times. He is great. I don't think he was on the Fantasy last year - he has been on the Wonder for a couple years.

I agree.

We had Sasha as our server (and I agree that he is wonderful!) during our April 2013 Wonder cruise. My boyfriend recognized him as he had had him as a server on the Magic before and he mentioned then that he had just recently transferred to the Wonder as he wanted to have a chance to see Alaska.

I seem to remember from a previous post that there is another Palo server called Sasha on the Fantasy - maybe spelled slightly differently. It led to confusion in that previous thread as well, but it is just two different people with very similar names!

Hristo was great when we had him. So much now we always ask for him. Dined now three separate times and he was top notch.

Yep we have had Judy from Barbados on all of our cruises. She is awesome!

We just got off the ship and had Hristo for both brunch and dinner. Totally recommend him, he went above and beyond and definitely added so much class to the experience.

Edit...just checked, the picture above is the one and only Hristo. Well, I'm 99% sure it's him.

DCL really are their own worst enemy when it comes to things like this.I really wish they would stop the practice of being able to request (not guaranteed) a server.
Anyone new to cruising on DCL may think that of all the posts, that Sacha who has been mentioned in posts 17 times out of 32 is the server to request if they are so inclined to do that. And maybe anyone else isn't up to the right standard?
IMO a better policy is to try to match a server with a previous passenger if possible to provide continuity and relationships. but a server should be recognized by their talent in tips and feedback. Not a post on a forum board that heavily suggests one is the best and the others are just okay. That indicates to me there is a high variance in the standard and quality of service, but that may not be the case if everyone that reads this thread requests Sacha when Hristo and Judy are equally as good, and as should be the other servers?
If some are not up to standard then they should be retrained or replaced.
A friend of mine is a server on dcl and although it is great to be requested and recognized for her hard work, sometimes she would prefer not to serve those passengers again because they were really hard work or picky and she had to work extra hard to even please them, but they requested her. So i guess it goes both ways.
And I know threads like this are only meant with good intentions, I just think they can be divisive to the servers in some ways, and ultimately DCL are to blame for allowing requests, not the people that recommend great servers.

Just go off the cruise today! We did not request anyone and had Hristo for brunch. He was great so we requested him for dinner. If you get him you will not be disappointed and that is him on the pictures. A plus, his tables are near the windows in the middle for a great view with great service.

Sadly we are back to reality today too. I didn't even think about the georgeous views his tables had. His were right along the windows. So true!

On the WBPC we had Alvaro. Excellent. We had him last Sept/Oct, too. Alvaro also performed in the crew talent show. We didn't request him in May. We went to make some tweetks at the Palo desk and he spotted us. Came running over to hug us. That's when we made sure to ask to be assigned to him for all our Palo meals. He's such a sweet man and a fabulous server. Makes you feel like family.

Guilty as charged for contributing to this post. I really don't know how many servers are assigned to Palo on the Wonder for anyone to compare. I believe I saw 3 or 4. But in my own defense, Sasha has been working for DCL for over 20 yrs and his experienced level of service really was noteworthy. We never requested him and never will. But we will always consider him among the best.

I'm sure Hristo and Judy are great as well, as both also come highly recommended here. And I do agree, the referral and rating system on the cruise line puts a tremendous burden on these CM's.
