Wonder if this trend will stop???

I personally have never seen it nor do I pay too much attention to what other people are wearing. I guess the exception would be someone butt in my face but I could always get out of line or look the other way.

So I guess what you're saying is that when faced by such a situation one must simply turn the other cheek? ;)

Frankly I don't see any problem with the rules Disney has , especially the gang stuff. Disney is a family venue.

If it is a issue, I would suggest to you try other line, but I believe you will often find similar rules there as well.

You missed the point. The rules are GREAT and encouraged. It's a family venue and therefore thong bathing suits don't exactly fit the bill.

That would really depend on your point of view.

It's a cultural thing, like topless beaches. Americans are much more modest than other countries and generally frown upon excessive skin showing. I don't care to see butt cheeks or ****s hanging out but I accept their right to wear what they are comfortable in. Same goes for hairy backed men!

A hairy man cannot help that he's hairy. But adults CAN choose their swimwear.

Disney is an American company and therefore I think it's fair to have American expectations, "modesty" and all. When you visit Saudi Arabia, women are expected to cover their heads, etc. No one questions it. But when we are on an American-based cruise ship, we can suddenly let it all hang out?

As I said, no one on these Boards will ever convince me that it's ok to show your butt.

Disney Cruise Line is actually incorporated and based in the UK and I believe the ships are registered out of the Bahamas. Even if it were based in the US, that would have nothing to do with the dress code. Where does it say that modesty is an American trait?

Geessh......my error Slk!................part of getting old, I a sorry.

As to the thongs..no they are not proper with all the kids around, but it is part of our society, I don't see it changing.

Actually a hairy man could wax or shave...

While Disney the company is American, DCL is actually Bahamian registered, so not American based (semantics, yes but that's how it is.)

In terms of your Saudi Arabia analogy, the dress code you reference is based on their religion. As far as I know, modesty is not a religious edict in the U.S...and the definition of "modesty" can vary from person to person.

Also I'm not worried about my 11 year daughter being scarred for life because she sees some woman's butt cheeks in a bathing suit. :)

Disney is a Global company. It serves (Especially the cruise line) an international demographic. Not all people are as ashamed of the human body as Americans.

I have no problem with thongs, or any type of bathing suit as long as it's that person's choice.

Swim diapers are a public health hazard on confined environments like a cruise. Gang clothing is a risk of violence. Smoking is a fire risk.

Just because the woman isn't your ideal of beauty doesn't mean she doesn't feel comfortable in it.
