Wonder dry dock?

I wonder if DCL would consider doing Mexican Riviera cruises from San Diego or LA if they choose to skip Alaska. Or they might possibly get that 1 time exemption, go through the Canal and that would give them the summer of 2017 + Alaska and then possible MR cruises until they can bring the Wonder back through. That would give them until Oct 2017 or later to have the new Canal ready. They are committed to Mazatlan in October with possibly more dates there, so they might be hedging their bets.

When they got the Dream and the Fantasy, the original plan was to have the Wonder permanently based at the West Coast. That is why on the world maps on the Dream and the Fantasy that show all four ships the Wonder is on the West Coast, the Magic in Europe and the new ships in the Bahamas/Caribbean region. They only brought the Wonder back when they cancelled the winter season at the Mexican riviera because of the security issues there. It came as quite a surprise and caused a lot of uproar when they changed the schedule after it had been released in a dramatic way.

Have a look at this thread: DCL shows that they CAN cancel cruises for no reason - Wonder's 12/9/12 and on

I'm excited to see the reimagination of the Wonder as well. We are doing our first cruise Jan 2017.
Does anyone know what the kids area or shows that have been rumored on the ship....

Oh the suspense!!!

We're also on a January 2017 cruise on the Wonder, excited to see what they will change on her. Though we loved her just as she was when we sailed on her September 2015

Right now Id say its about a 70-30 chance shes getting the full reimagination. The 1 question is whether she gets the ad like the Magic. According to recent cruisers, the ad hasn't exactly been popular among guests. So o the assumption that they don't do the ad on the Wonder, and not do anything else, the only changes will be no ducktail, no aquadunk, and shell retain her secret deck a little longer. All of the other changes will take place.

The 2nd question is if they take the new locks off line again to completely fix the issue. which might throw another wrench into the plans. Right now the only thing that is for sure, is that the new locks will be dedicated next month. They could have prolonged testing and not officially open for a while.

I'd be OK with that. AquaDunk was fun, but for us the repeatability is low. TBH it scared the dickens out of my husband so we only went once, lol, but I didn't mind. Poof and you're done. I do hope they put in some kind of slide adults can go on though, the pools are too small to really do much with them aside from sit in them. Are we guessing the arcade space will be the new concierge lounge? Or ___? :)

I would love to have a ship based here on the west coast... I never did get a chance to go on one of the Mexican Riviera cruises before they were pulled and we are so psyched for our 3 night in May... just wish it were longer!

Is it confirmed?! I am alittle frozened out! lol....but I am sure it will be cool..
It's not 'official', but they've put out casting calls for a new stage show on the Wonder with Elsa, Anna, Hans, Kristoff, and Olaf, rehearsals in Toronto over the summer. They had put out casting calls last year for the 'closing company' of Toy Story--which is what we'll be seeing in Alaska this summer.

So... question for @truck1 and other dry dock experts (love your technical information, by the way--thank you!). I know there was once a past issue with the Magic not making her first scheduled sailing after a dry dock. What are the odds of this happening with the Wonder this time around? We have a family reunion planned for the first sailing out of Galveston post-dry dock in November, and I'm a bit concerned about the possibility of cancellation.

Any possibility that they would add BBBoutique on-board the Wonder during Refurb?

Just my two cents, I personally wouldn't book any trip right after a dry dock, even the next few trips. Kind of like I wouldn't fly into MCO the same day as a cruise, just too many things that could cause you to miss the boat.

As a reference the RCCL has cancelled the first 6 sailing of the Empress due to delays in its dry dock, http://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2...ancels-first-six-empress-of-the-seas-sailings.

Did they have to cancel any cruises on the Magic after her latest dry dock?
