I have been having left-sided abdominal pain now for almost 2 yrs. I've seen my GYN about it countless times and have had numerous ultrasounds since I'm prone to ovarian cysts. The U/S keep coming back clear-no cysts save for a small one that sometimes appears on my RIGHT ovary... but no fibroids in the uterus, no cysts on the left ovary, etc.... the pain that I have is this intermittent stabbing pain that comes and goes.... some days it's just repeatedly happening and it's almost debilitating.... other days I barely notice it, but it's ALWAYS happening (usually lasts seconds and then goes away and comes back, etc) When I went for my annual pap/pelvic about a month ago I again complained about the pain... she kept telling me to go back on the pill (I can't due to BP issues) and it would solve all my problems.... THEN she detects a "mass" in my abdomen just to the left of my uterus. She had me come back 2 weeks later to recheck. It's still there. She said it's probably diverticulosis and to come back in 2 months after a fleet enema and she'd see if it was something in my colon. I used to be a clinical asst. to a gastroenterologist and if it were diverticulosis, I'd want a more reputable way of finding out. I know it may be TMI-but I've had no problems w/ BM's of any sort..... So, I wasn't happy with my GYN's response and actions over time and esp. once there was a detectable mass... so I saw my primary care MD last week and had an abdominal CT scan yesterday... now it's just the waiting until I get some results (supposed to see her 5/30 to get the results) I had 2 c-sections and I'm almost thinking it might be abdomial adhesions? Anyone had experience with them? I hate googling because I always scare myself to death.... they keep mentioning the possibility of the adhesions strangling the intestines and there is a strong likelihood of death in those instances if it's not surgically corrected in time..... ugh. Must step away from the computer..... :sad2:

Your story sounds just like mine.I too had cysts. All through my 30's kept going to my gyn and ended up having right ovary removed-didn't help. Turns out I had adhesions-scars from 2 previous C-sections. I had to have a hysterectomy because the scar tissue was pretty bad.
About 3 years ago,I started with horrible pain again -not too different from 10 years ago. Had the scans, etc.Diagnosis:bladder spasms. For some reason when I get a bladder infection my only symptom is severe pain=the spasms. Now,when I feel the pain,I bring a urine sample and start meds. Works everytime!
Were the spasms the cause of the pain in my 30's? I don't know. Before any surgery, get checked for spasms.
You sound persistent good for you! God bless and I hope you find the problem soon -it's maddening not knowing!

Thanks for the info rie'smom!!! I'm actually 33 now and when I was pregnant w/ my 2nd DD 4 yrs ago, my GYN found a softball-sized cyst on my right ovary and she was going to remove the ovary @ 18 weeks gestation if it didn't shrink on it's own putting my baby at risk.... but thankfully, it did shrink and never got that big again.... she was making me feel as though it was "all in my head" re; the left sided pain over the last 2 yrs. and then she actually felt something for the first time a month ago at my annual. I'm very anxious now to see what the CT scan showed, if anything... hoping to find out what it is and praying it's just something non-life-threatening so I can concentrate on my DD's kidney issues!!!! :rolleyes2

Thanks for sharing your experience with me~I do appreciate it!!!
