I have beem pretty miserable for the past few days... was in ER on Sat/Sun for what they diagnosed as a ruptured ovarian cyst.. frankly I thought I was dying but hey..i am a wimp when it comes to pain....
Well they diagnosed that as well as a small kidney infection and after a cat scan found another cyst on my ovary which the doc will remove in June...
Anyways here is my question has anyone had this and if so how long does it take to feel better.. my stomach had been hurting since Sat (not as bad as Sat and Sun) and I am really getting worried. doc said yesterday that the stomach pain is not caused by the other cyst and probably due to the rupture...

I've had cysts but not had them rupture, just wanted to say I hope ya feel better soon!

My sister has gone this this. Every cycle she got a cyst on one of her ovarys and it would rupture or cause her a lot of pain. She ended up having the ovary removed. I think that she suffered for six months to a year before her surgery.

First off, you're not a wimp and I'm sorry you're going through this. I've had 2 ovarian cysts rupture and had 1 removed. When they ruptured I really hoped I would die because the pain was so horrible. I think someone could have pulled my heart out through my ear and it wouldn't have hurt as much.

My doctor gave me an anti-inflamitory to take for a few days and it really helped with the pain. Cysts can really irritate a lot of your internal organs which is probably the pain you're feeling. If you can't get a prescription try ibuprofin.

If I were you I'd get to the gyn and/or change gyn. My dd had pain for about 3 years and was dx with bladder infections. Finally I tood her to our family doctor who felt around and said get her to the hospital she has a mass. So we go for an ultra sound and it comes back as possibly endometriosis. So we go to a gyn and he decides to scope her-and we set up a surgical date for a week later. Well over that weekend she has one of her pain episodes and is crying and throwing up. I call the gyn doc on call and they blow me off. DD gets a bit better and we go into surgery after the weekend. The Dr. comes out after 20 minutes and tells me that she had a cyst the size of a grapefruit and that it had twisted around her ovary cut off the ovary's blood supply and that the horrible pain she had been in was the ovary getting ready to burst. If it had she would've bled to death. So they did emergency surgery to remove the ovary and cyst. She was very lucky and the doc on call was reprimanded. Be very persistant with the doctors because pain that bad means SOMETHING. Good luck.
