I do all that stuff... the massages, time at the salon, even a spa day here and there. I also enjoy girls' nights out (both mild and wild -- ok, maybe not as wild as in the old days) -- and all that good stuff... but I like to tuck a little bit of "me" time into each and everyday if possible. So, how does this (stay-at-home mom/part time employee) woman of 4 kids under age 5 have "me" time?
TOP FIVE WAYS TO HAVE "ME" TIME -- even though you really didn't ask! lol:
5) Work out every morning for 1-2 hours while kids are in gym Babysitting room. Can actually shower and get dressed w/o interruption too! Productive "me" time!
4) What do a college-aged girl, my middle-aged mom and my neighbors all have in common? They're a great support network. Having a great college-aged babysitter who adores my kids puts my mind at ease for a night out w/or w/o dh and for summer afternoons when I need time to myself! Mom loves to spend time w/her grandkids -- and she's a cheap babysitter too! lol... And great neighbors who will watch the kids on those days that running to Wal-Mart for a 15 minute trip just seems to daunting w/the kids -- all the buckling and jostling for who gets to ride where in the car and shopping cart. Same said great neighbors are great for going for power walks with at night after kids are tucked into bed and dh is lounging in front of t.v.
3) 2-3 times a year go to all-day scrapbook events -- sometimes even overnight ones -- more productive "me" time.
2) Ask for massages and gift certificates to local day spas for birthday and Christmas gifts.
1) Being married to a super-awesome dh who understands the value of "me" time -- who, by the way needs more of his own "me" time. I actually begged him to plan a poker/card night last weekend and told him I'd take the kids and spend the night at my sister's. And still, I had to start making the calls to his friends to get it organized! He felt guilty about it! Awww! But I know he enjoyed it in the end!
