Women and children first

I just came back from a Caribbean cruise, and when we did our "emergency drill" they put all the women and children up front and the men in back. They were quick to tell us that there were plenty of life boats and no one would be left behind, but they still practiced "women and children first." Some of the men in the back were grumbling which I thought was a bit odd....

My sister went on a Carnival Cruise recently and they had the lifeboat drill and announced women and children get to board first. I thought it was kind of odd when she told me that, but apparently that's the way they still do things.

Even if there had been enough life boats for everyone on the Titanic, remember that, in the panic, they were launching lifeboats not filled to capacity.

So, in theory, that could happen again

NOT a good thought to have 5 months before our cruise
