TIRANA (Reuters) - An Albanian who lived for half a century as a woman was found after her death to have been a man.
Vangjeli Llambro, 64, who died of a heart attack, had some female features, including breasts, but a coroner's examination revealed Llambro was in fact male, the Albanian daily Gazeta Shqiptare reported Tuesday.
Born a boy in a village near the southern town of Vlore, Llambro's feminine side took over at the age of 14, probably due to a hormone imbalance. Llambro was treated as a woman by family and fellow villagers from then on. She never married, and guarded her secret to the end.
