Is it me or have sizes changed? I took out a pair of old jeans size 6 this weekend. I mean real old..like 20 years old....and they got on, but do not ask me to breath in them. Today, someone here at work hd a pair of size 6 jeans she asked me to try on becase she said I looked the same size as her neice...they fit perfectly (old Navy)..So whats up?

Glo! First of all, good job on getting in those 6's!!! I wish!!! :) LOL!
I think sizes are different....especially by brand and store....
But from years ago, definitely........not sure why!
Maybe someone else has a better answer!
Kamy :)

DD swears that Old Navy sizes run bigger than others -- she LOVES shopping there, since she can fit in an Old Navy size 0! (In my wildest dreams would I be there, LOL!)

But, I have found that sizes do vary store-to-store and style-to-style. I do my best to ignore the size and just go with what fits, but boy, it sure does feel good to say you've gone down a size or two! ;)

The clothing manufacturers HAVE made the clothes bigger... there didn't used to be a 0 or 2 in clothing sizes. Vanity wins out. Always.

Food for thought... there is NO way that Anna Nicole wears a size 12 (though I'm sure that has a *little* to do with buying things at WalMart versus Beverly Hills, but even that is stretching it!). ;)

Glo this has nothing really to do with you post. But I've been meaning to tell you. I was shopping a couple weeks ago I decided to get me a pair of 14's but not the big 550 cut i bought the hipster kind i don't remember the number anyhow I was seraching for my new style and i ran across a pair of 8's and pulled them out. WOW I thought GLO is got it going on! It really inspired me to go ahead and buy the dang 14's even though they still don't fit me. I can't wait I wonder if i could ever fit into an 8 like You do? I just wanted to say how much i can appreiciate your hard work glo. I was a 20 when i started my journey and i am feeling healthier and better everyday. I just wanted to say you have done a wonderful job and everytime i see a 6 now I'll think of you.

I have a size 6 pair of Levi's from 5 yrs ago and a size 6 pair of Levi's from 1 yr ago and there is a difference. The older ones are tighter than the newer ones. I read once that the manufacturer's have changed the sizes in order to win individuals to their brands. They believe if they can make is appea individuals are wearing a smaller size in their brand compared to another brand that the individual will be more likely to purchase them.

ok, and I was so happy to be in a size 6 :( :(
what a bummer...Old Navy sure will get my money...I would rather fit in a 6.

Tammy, thank you.... that really made me feel good. I needed that today

Glo, Soon you will be able to fit in any size 6 you try on:D and feel wonderful in them.

I don't know but does it really matter? You can wear a size 6!

I have years and years to go and millions of carbohydrates to avoid before I could even wear an 18. I think you are doing great! I'm a little envious :)

LOL Kath, my thoughts exactly!! :p

Glo, you are doing a wonderful job and what an accomplishment you have made!! Size 6!!! That is awesome!! :):)

Wow a 6 Glo:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
Tell me how that felt!

Different brands run in different sizes.
I thought I was doing good when I went out in my 10's today, I don't think I'll see a 6 for quite a while.

Congrats, glo on the 6. It's nothing to sneeze at and be down about. It's something to celebrate!

You've come so far, and it's just a number. I have to echo Kath's sentiments here. 6? I'm looking forward to the 16! (and that is a l-o-n-g way away!)

Guys, believe me a 6 has made me happy. When I see how far I have come, it is the first big accomplishment I have done lately(besides my wonderful kiddos). I am not complaining, but it took the air out a little to feel like the 6 was not a 6....believe me I am not saying that to anyone but you guys....to the rest of the world I am a 6.

Guys, if I can do it anyone can. I do not say it lightly. I have been trying for over 20 years to loose the weight. I have been big since about 22 years old...I turn 40 this coming January (yes, before the peanut gallery tells me I am already 40...DON"T) :p Anyway, I really could not control my eating at all..I think it was a death wish or better yet, if no one saw me, even better. I used any excuse not to leave the house, I wore DH's clothes...always had an excuse for eating. Everything was centered around meals and food. I tell you all because I had no will power. I did not care...I was big and to be honest I did not care about my appearance at all. I was (still am) a take me or leave me kind of person. So, if I can turn around...you can. It is dang hard. It is not easy, and like me you will slip, but eventually it will come of slowly but surely. I am still saying that to myself now. Slowly the last few will come off, I can not give up....I can do it....and so can't all of you.

glo - I am soooo impressed with you and your strength.

I'm even wondering if you should be collecting your Goal clippie and rethinking your goal weight. I know you are a little verically challenged - but a six 6 is tiny and wonderful. Another 15 pounds may be too much??

just a thought - I on the envy train with my fellow WISHers, I have never in my life been a 6, maybe as a freshman in high school on a good day.

You seem to be very educated in the fitness/health arena so I know you are being smart about it.

glo, you are our inspiration. Not because "if I can do it, anyone can". But because of your determination and strength that shines through every post. I'm short (well, maybe compared to you I'm tall ;) at 5'3") and to be honest the last time I looked good, I plateaued out at 150 pounds. Yep, that's right. Of course, then I went and had those last two babies. So, when I am thinking about that long-term goal, I'm not sure what I will decide. Right now, I'm taking it one day at a time, and celebrating every pound as an extra bit of life. So maybe ohmom has an idea about rethinking the goal~ for now. You look terrific, and your energy is phenomenal! So, that's it from Dr. Mom.

My grandmother's 100th birthday !!!!!

guys 10-15 more pounds would not hurt. Thank you for the compliments though...I appreciate them...sometimes others see what you can't, and it is nice to hear that progress is being made.

I know we can all do it....we are loosers, and the more we loose the healthier we are...thank you guys... :)

Glo, You look wonderful!!!!!!!!!! You are right...it is hard to see what others can, but I can tell you that you look good!!!!!!!!

What a wonderful photo! You look great glo :)

Nice picture, glo. You all look great! :)

Glo, you look beautiful! You are glowing! :) No way can you convince me you are turning 40. You are "the new 40". ;)

You are so full of determination. I know you really want to conquer that belly and you can! Just keep doing what you are doing. Heck, you HAVE to keep doing it because you are committed to exercise and Atkins for the rest of your life already. It might not happen as quickly as you'd like it, but a year from now when we look back at things you'll be so happy you stuck it out!!!!

Hang in there my tiny waist friend! ;)
