Woman to marry flying carpet ride

wait.. shouldn't she be going to a mental institution?? This is just NOT right and there's something really wrong with this person.

Uh, no she does not belong in a mental institution. Yes, there is something "wrong" with this person, she has Aspergers. Have you watched the video?

If you want to put every person with Aspergers in mental institutions, we better start building more, and there is going to be one on every block.

The sad part is, although she does not belong in an institution, it doesn't appear that she is getting any help and is being enabled by her family. You can't 'cure' the way a person with Asperger sees the word, but cognitive therapy can help with someone as high functioning and self-aware as she seems to be. Granted, this is just a little clip and probably edited to make it as shocking as possible, but with therapy I suspect she could have a higher quality of life (vs. lying on the ground kissing greasy machine parts).

It's really nice of Knoebels to let her spend time with the ride.

You know that only a very SMALL % of people with asperger's have this object fixation.

My son's friend that has a level of asperger's is nothing at all like that woman. He has person space issues- (meaning he gets way too close to you but he doesn't get it)

What got me sad in that video was the way the mom describes that she has been hurt and disappointed by people which is why she fixated on objects.

True, though it's good she's at least been made aware of her disorder.

I'm not saying that people with Aspergers syndrome should be in a mental institution. Did I say that, I dont think I said that. I'm saying that these "80 people in the world" that are having love thoughts about objects should definately get some help. I mean, its just not normal!
