Woman to marry flying carpet ride

Where is HelenePA? Wait until she sees this!

Maybe they'll have the reception at The Alamo, or catered by Knoebels? Funnel cakes instead of a wedding cake?

I honestly don't know what to say or how to respond to that article. I'm speechless and dumbfounded. :confused3:scared1::eek:

This part in particular stuck out to me: "She keeps spare hardware from it with her at all times to increase their closeness and has a photo of it on her ceiling."

Very interesting article. I was thinking that she was off her rocker until I read the part about her having Asperger. I think it is very nice that the workers at the ride understand her condition and treat her with respect. :)

Ah come on I was just there friday! this ride was closed down maybe she had something to do with it :scared1:

After I read that my mouth literally hung open! That is the most bizarre thing I have ever heard!! I think this lady needs some serious psycho-therapy!

That just painted a picture I did NOT want to see! :scared1::eek:

Aw come on guys, the lady has aspergers. Have some compassion. :goodvibes:

Her love for an object is not something I (or most of us) can understand but it sounds like she's not hurting anyone. I know that many people with Aspergers find it difficult to form attachments to others - I guess the lady in this story finds it easier to love an object than a person - it's not gonna reject her plus she's in control of the 'relationship'.

There's an interesting article here which mentions her story (and others)... http://www.aspiesforfreedom.com/archive/index.php/thread-13318.html

I call the EPCOT Ball!

How did I miss the part of the article about her having Asbergers :confused3. I take back what I said earlier. I don't think the ride has even been at Knoebels for 20 years. I don't remember it being there when I worked there in the mid 90's.

I wonder if she rode one of the same type of ride somewhere else when she was a teen. I know I've ridden them a few times at various amusement parks, although I can't remember where...maybe Kentucky Kingdom?

OH NO!
1001 Nachts is an ex Carnie! She's up for heartache.

Thanks for posting this, I am assuming most people just skimmed the article and may have missed the part about this woman having Aspergers. Having a close relative with Aspergers, I don't find this funny so I will freely admit I have no sense of humor about this. Sorry.

There was a show on BBC America about this....I watched about 20 mins of it, seeing women (only) who fall in love with the Eiffel Tower, a competiton Archery bow and other things, I had to turn it off it was getting too creepy

I know for a fact its not been there 20 yrs.. 5 yrs at the most. Did ya see they are putting in a new "baby" rollercoaster where the wooden "baby" one use to be.. I have no idea what the name of the "baby" one was thats what I always referred to it as.. They were doing test runs of it on Friday :)

I actually had to go back and re-read the article in order to make sure that she suffered from Aspergers. Like I said in my PP, I couldn't believe the story and thought she was crazy UNTIL I read she has Aspergers and then it made sense.

I think it is sad that fact that the reason behind her obsession is because of her Aspergers was hidden in the article was ashame. To me the article went for the shock value as opposed to actual facts.

Legally? Can you legally marry an object? Or is it just a spiritual wedding & she's just legally going to change her name?

And I don't want to be riding it after she's fulfilled by it. ewwwww.
