" . . . she persists in trying to get the full refund she feels she is owed for the missed cruise."
As Judge Judy says, "I don't care how you feel."
pretty sure you have to provide test results. You can't just call and say "I'm sick cough cough":
Yes you can. Did just this for 2 cruises on the dream. Not sure about RC. They wanted no proof.
Especially now with the airlines cutting schedules and all the cancellations. Whenever flights get delayed too long they almost always end up canceling. I would have canceled it myself and rebooked on someone else. Either way your out some money. At most she could I suppose try to go after the airline to pay for the missed cruise but there’s a low chance of success. It isn’t RCCL’s fault she missed the boat.
This is exactly why you book flights with a solid margin of error (at least the day before, more if flying from further away) and get travel insurance. It’s not like any of this is a secret.
Royal has a 48-hour cruise with confidence policy. You can cancel for any reason before 48 hours and get a cruise credit if you booked before March 31. I don't think she deserved a refund, but they could have cut her some slack and given her a cruise credit. They would have made more money off of her in the long run. Now they've lost a customer and scared away potential cruisers when they read this story.
Correct. We actually called RCl to check on this today because we are considering a cruise with them but their cancellation policy recently changed. They will only refund your money if you provide proof of positive test. They will not refund your money if you are feeling symptomatic without a positive testpretty sure you have to provide test results. You can't just call and say "I'm sick cough cough":
yes Disney does not require a positive covid test to get a refund. You may have one or more covid symptom with a test or be a close contact to get a refund. The RC client rep today told us they require a positive test. Being a close contact or being symptomatic but no test result does not qualify for a refund. Disney is more flexible than Royal right now.Yes you can. Did just this for 2 cruises on the dream. Not sure about RC. They wanted no proof.
I can cancel my Royal cruise for any reason 48 hours prior and get a cruise credit in that regard it's more flexible. Disney you just need to say you have a runny nose whether it's true or not.yes Disney does not require a positive covid test to get a refund. You can cancel for any reason up to 48 hours if you booked before March 31 on Royal. We called today to get more info about booking with Royal this summer, and that is not the case for people booking now.I can cancel my Royal cruise for any reason 48 hours prior and get a cruise credit in that regard it's more flexible. Geez, have a heart. It's not like people are waiting in line to book cruises these days. As a shareholder, I think you would get that.As a RCL shareholder I hope it scares away every potential pain in the rear. She’s not a customer — she’s a complainer who doesn’t want to buy insurance to cover such situations and now wants to cry on social media. It’s a perishable product — a room on a sailing that can never be sold again.

I think you are confused. The industry has been exceptionally lenient on cancelations for the last two years. They are just now moving back towards normal. Travel insurance is a thing, it's time for people to take responsibility for themselves.I think it's time for cruise lines to get on board with the rest of the travel industry making cancellations more flexible. With so much uncertainty in the world pandemics, war, worker shortages, food shortages, energy crisis, supply shortages, 6-hour + hold times, and the coming recession/depression...and that's just the good stuff. It just makes sense. As customers, we've had to lower our expectations so maybe it's time they do the same. I just got off a cruise during Spring break not even close to being full.
The 48 hour cancellation that RCL was doing was incredibly lenient.
