If they find any diseases, they're saying the health department is going to want to test everybody that might have eaten the salad between Monday and Tuesday.

That would be my very *first* concern with a thing like that!!! I just don't understand why, if they couldn't find the thumb, didn't they just THROW OUT the salad since that is what he was chopping up???? I wouldn't be quite so concerned with getting money as I would be with the thought that I would have a VERY hard tim eating ever again... that's just disgusting!!!
MY MOM DID THIS!!!!! Only it was at home-- and we didn't eat the salad. She was using one of those old TV gadgets-- the "V" slicer to cut cucumber into a salad we were taking to a cookout. Next thing I know she's kind of screaming. She cut of a good portion of her fingertip into the salad(entire top part and 1/3 of the nail part). It was disgusting. Anyhow-- they picked her tip out of the salad and took it with them. We threw out the salad
