Has anyone eaten at Wolfgang Puck's restaurant in Downtown Disney - the sit down, formal one)? My husband wants to eat there on vacation (there are many other places I would rather eat!) - so I told him I would try to get some feedback on it. I'm not against spending the money - if it is good!

It's popular with snooty locals, and I have absolutely no idea why. The service was incredibly rude (if you aren't "somebody", you can just shut up, sit where they tell you, and starve), and the food was bad and odd (I'm sorry, but 1/4 head of iceberg lettuce on a plate with one teaspoon of dressing is not a salad, and certainly not worth the almost ten bucks they charged me for it).

I do have to admit that the key lime pie (more like cheesecake) that's also available at the little WPExpress place in the same building is worth the money, lol.

Skip it. There are so many other nice places to dine. You said you had some in mind. Pick one of those.

We ate there on our honeymoon and it was our least favorite place. The people were absolute snobs. It was 4 days into my husbands first trip to WDW and he asked me, "Are you sure this place is Disney? Can't tell from the people." I told him that actually it's not and it's amazing the difference.

We didn't think the food was anything to write home about. The only good thing was that they had a dessert sampler which is very cool for the undecisive. The also wrote "Happy Honeymoon" on the place in chocolate sauce which was cute. It was expensive and would not have gone there if we weren't on a package (meals included).

To be fair, I've heard good things about the Cafe downstairs.

For the full blown story see below:

As for the service, we are not entirely without fault. We were 20 minutes late for our PS (the reason is an incredible long story. Why are the 4th day bad on honeymoons? As a couple we were fine but nothing went right all day... any hoo...).

It's a rather small area upstairs there. You can easily see the whole place from anywhere in the restaurant. So yeah, we were late and we were very apologetic. They told us that we would have to wait now. Fine, no problem, we understand. So we sit on this little couch thing and someone comes to ask if we want a drink. No thanks. So a half hour goes by. No one has left the place. No one else has come in. Right, so now it's getting a little close for comfort to have dinner AND make La Nouba. We decide that we'll have to just grab something somewhere because we can't wait much longer. We get up and go to the podium and say, "Thank you but we have tickets for the show so we're going to go just grab something so that we're not late". Right away the girl was like, "Well, we can seat you now" and she sat us.

This is the part that really ticked me off. If I was a little more with it I would have figured this out before we sat down but basically they made us wait because we made them wait. I thought that was just snotty.

Like I said, we were partially at fault since we were late but we were sitting in front on the entrance. No one left between the time we got there and the time we were seated. There was apparently a table ready the whole time.

My husband and I didn't think the food was that great and vowed never to return. Good thing there is no shortage of restaurants on property. :)

Thank you for the input! We don't get to go out by ourselves often - I would not have wanted to waste a rare "date night" on it!

I agree w/ the above posters. The food wasn't that great and service was slow. I didn't realize it was because we were nobody's but now it all makes sense.

I haven't been to the Wolfgangs at Disney but we did eat at one in Las Vegas within Ceasers Palace. I would echo the above sentiments. Slow service, not crazy about the menue, food ok. I didn't find it expensive or a bargain but I would not go back.

Actually my experience there (it was last trip) was pretty good. Service was fine, the food good, and we had a table overlooking the DD "lake".
And there's nothing realy "formal" about it. Most everyone was in "business casual" dress, and even a few shorts sprinkled about.

Well my hubby and I really liked it. I got a multi-cheese ravioli thing and it was yummy. Service was very good, our waiter really chatted with us and brought us an extra dessert because we were on our honeymoon. Give it a try!

Maybe you could compromise and pick up something from the Wolfgang Puck counter service - I think the food there is great, and a really good deal. It's kind of a nice option to pick up take out and relax back at your room (and definitely much cheaper).
