Wolfgang Pucks in DTD

My husband and I have eaten here a couple of times, although not within the past year (last time was Sept 2003).

We enjoyed it even though we don't make it a must-do every trip. It seemed to be pretty crowded most of the time, and a bit on the noisy side, especially as it seems to attract a lot of the convention crowd. Lots of drunk business people on our last trip. ;) In any case, you'll probably have a bit of a wait to get seated unless things have calmed down in the last year.

The food was very good, although on the expensive side. You do get big portions though. For instance, I ordered rotisserie (sp?) rosemary chicken .. imagine my surprise when they brought me a whole chicken. Yup, the whole thing. And a big mound of mashed potatoes and veggies. I guess a lot of people were surprised by that dish because when the server brought it he said "When you asked for the chicken, I bet you didn't think you were getting *the* chicken." :) What was even funnier was the woman sitting next to us ordered the same thing, and when it came she said "Oh, I didn't realize *that's* what you were having! I was wondering what was up with the whole chicken!" lol Anyway, suffice it to say there were leftovers from that meal.

Overall though, we enjoyed the meal and would definitely consider eating there again. Someone else might have more info from a more recent dinner though.

WGP's can get very busy, and because of the restaurant layout, it can get loud when it is busy. The decor is a little frenetic too, but we love to dine here. Our preference, to avoid crowds, is to eat early, around 5ish. We will do a late breakfast, no lunch and an early dinner. When we took in the early Cirque show, we ate before the show, and it worked out great.

The menu at WGP's is varied and huge. There is something for everyone. Great soups, pizza and the pumpkin ravioli is yum! The dessert station, where the staff prepare the desserts, is smack dab in the middle of the dining room, and our DS likes to mosey over and watch them prepare the goodies. They have a glass case, with the desserts displayed, so you can be tempted. Their dessert sampler, and their fondue (with homemade marshmallows, brownies, cinnamon cake, and berries for dipping) is a family favorite.

We go to Wolfgang Puck's once every couple of weeks- we live locally. Some of the food is "adventurous" but there are a lot of things for picky eaters as well- chicken, meatloaf, pizza, steak.

The atmosphere is loud, you can't hear the background music if they are playing any. There is indoor and outdoor seating to choose from. If you go after 6pm, there is usually a 20-40 minute wait, depending on the season.

When you are seated, they give you a plate with Wolfgang's signature focaccia and parmesean flatbread.

For starters, I have had the Baby Spinach salad with carmelized pears and pecans. If you don't want the full dinner size one, you can order a smaller "side" version of it for about $2 less. It maysound crazy, but is REALLY yummy! The pizza is also good. The Magherita pizza has fresh tomatoes and basil on it.

For dinner, I have had the sirloin (expensive) which was "okay" I once tried the pumpkin ravioli which was really yummy- but only if you're in the mood for "sweet" I had the whole chicken this week with mashed potatoes. It was DELICIOUS!

My fiance Ted always gets Sushi and has never been disappointed.

For dessert, we have tried the key lime pie, but the best is the chocolate lava cake! YUM!!! It has warm fudgy stuff in the center.

For two people for dinner, with no alcohol, and either a starter or dessert to share, dinner usually runs $60-$75 before tip. But, Ted usually orders $20-$30 worth of sushi as his meal.

Enjoy!
Holly
