Last night when I went to bed, I noticed that under my left eye, it was a little dark.

This morning, I had a little bit of a black eye...now 3 hours laters its getting worse.

It doesn't hurt, it isn't swollen, no gooey stuff. Just a black eye.

I just made an appt to see the Dr at noon - just a bit baffled as to what this is.

Any idea? :goodvibes

Maybe allergies. I went to school/worked an internship with a lady who had really bad allergies and it made her look like she had black eyes.

No idea what it is, but I hope it's nothing to be concerned about.

Good luck at the doctor's! pixiedust:

I knew there was a term for it.....

allergic shiners

States it can happen with or without other allergy symptoms.

Hope you can find out for sure from your doctor today.:goodvibes

This is exactly what I have. I work at a private high school, we have a work study program (to help with tuition). The kids sweep/dust mop the floors and empty garbage after school. I supervise them and walk with them for an hour each day.

I was teasing my boss the other day telling him that this dust is starting to get in my nose and I don't think I can do this anymore. (Understandably, this "supervisory" job has been passed around the horn a few times already)

I think I just got my "out"

JerseyJanice - The doctor won't officially diagnose me with an allergy at this point - we are doing a "quick fix". He gave me some steriod nasal spray to coat the lining of my nose.

So far so go. My eye hasn't gotten worse (which is a good thing), but now I have to go throught the green and yellow stages of it healing. :rotfl: I have my grade school reunion on the 14th of the month...hope I'm healed by then.

Thanks to all that helped me yesterday. :cloud9:

I was going to say allergies too. My son use to get them, both eyes! Nothing like getting phone calls from school (in kindergarten!!) that your son has 2 black eyes and they have no idea why! He did allergy shots for a few years, no more black eyes (or bloody noses!).

Well, I hope it's all healed in time for your reunion. Gotta look good for those!

One thing good about eyes--they do usually heal quickly. pixiedust:

One good thing is that I'm still best friends with my buds from kindergarten. I have a couple of "newer" friends from freshman year. I live in this tight knit Italian community, where NO BODY EVER LEAVE :rotfl:

The "reunion" is just another Facebook excuse to go out with the girls. We graduated grade school in 1978....so we're having the ever popular 29 year reunion. I can't seem to find any decorations for that though :confused3

I can imagine that we will have a little fun with my eye.

Thanks Janice :goodvibes

Allergies? Maybe you bumped into something and forgot?

The latter happens to me more than it should. I'm really clumsy and run into things often. I also have a tendency to bump my face on the metal part of the car door... The part just above the rubber. =[

I'm glad you figured out the cause of your black eye. I was going to say maybe you punched youself during the night. I woke up with a black eye once, and it was because I punched myself. I partly woke up and I was cold. The really heavy comforter that was on the bed had started sliding off the foot of the bed, so I tried to pull it back up. My hand slipped off of it and I punched myself right in the eye. I had a really impressive black eye when I woke up. For the next few days I was constantly explaining it, and no one seemed to believe I had done it to myself!

Where you sleeping with my husband? ;)
Often, I need to watch out for his elbows. :rotfl:

My medical transcription training wasn't wasted after all. :rotfl:
