WOC: wait for a fp or get the picnics???

The platforms are set up so there aren't really a whole lot people standing on the same level. Everything is slightly tiered. You may be able to explain your situation to a CM and be able to stand at the back of the wheelchair section? We waited in our viewing area, so I don't have any experience of where the "back" would be, because they kind of funnel you in through the sides of the viewing areas.

But if not, there are actually some designated walkways throughout much of the viewing area. My little sister had to get up to use the restroom while we were waiting and didn't even have to crawl on anyone to get in or out. I don't know if part of your group could save a spot and have the rest of your party join you a little closer to the beginning of the show, using those walkways? My dad joined us a bit later and didn't have any issues. We had been sitting down in the viewing area and saving plenty of space for him. They didn't really squish us in the way it can get at F! or during the fireworks.

If you do utilize the walkway option, there is a "pre-show" that starts around 9:00, so you would want to join the rest of your party several minutes before then. Hope this helps a little!

Edit: The "pre-show" starts around 8:30. WoC starts right at 9:00.

Thank you, Whimsy87, that does help a lot! :) I am thinking we can all go and wait, and when our son has to use the washroom I will just have to take him, then come back. If he really panics prior to, I could get my husband and daughter to wait, and reserve a spot, (and explain to a cast member) but hopefully it won't come down to that.

Yes, I agree. This should not be an issue. You can leave the area and come back -- be sure to get a pass from a CM for this. They really do not have you packed in there like sardines.

Jory29, I was just looking and I got my times mixed up. Oops! WoC starts at 9:00 promptly, so the pre-show starts probably 20 or 30 minutes before then. I would definitely talk to a CM about making sure you get everyone in the right place at the right time! You'll want to make sure any potty breaks are taken care of before the pre-show. (And if not, I'm sure you can wait outside the area until the pre-show ends, then go join your group).

Or should we just get picnics??

Could someone please explain the picnic lunches I keep hearing about :confused3 What's the difference between the picnic lunch and the WoC dining package?

Thanks!

The dining packages are a timed reservation at a sit-down restaurant that come with a preffered viewing fp for WoC. The picnics are a small meal you pick up that comes with a fp for WoC.

Where are the picnic boxes picked up at? Is it near the WoC area?

Thank you.

You pick up the picnics to the left of Wine Country Trattoria. There is an area with pickup windows and some tables.

Thank you! Do i call for a reservation for a picnic? What's the menu?

I just checked out the website and what I find interesting is while you can order online 1 to 30 days before your date (if available) today the soonest you can get one is Sunday, Aug. 15th but the last one you can get is Aug. 31st. There are no dates shown for Sept. even though WOC is on the calendar (for now) thru September. How long before they release the picnics for September?

I too am an APH who hasn't seen it yet. I just don't want to commit that much time to see it. Since we have AP we never stay from opening to close. If we arrive first thing in the a.m. we leave about 5-7. So if we were to get a SP for 9 p.m. we woudn't use it. We don't live close enough to go home and come back-don't want to fight the traffic on the 91! :scared1: (or pay Fast Trak 4 times for one trip) If we are going to stay late then we get there later in the day, usually too late to get a WOC SP.

We may be going to DL today, after lunch. It's possible we could see show #2 or #3 SP, if available. Then we would just have to see how tired we are and if we want to stay until after 11.

lines for FP....

second-hand knowledge only....

Thursday we arrived very late and went to eat at Mimi's and a guy outside asked me if I had heard of WOC....(well, yeah...); he told me he had waited in line for 45 minutes that a.m. when DCA opened to get fastpasses (to the 9 p.m. show (it was then 8:45 p.m.) and was it gonna be worth the dash? (uh, probably since you waited that long, yes? ) That was the Thursday report.

Friday a.m. at 8:30 a.m. we walked into Disneyland and watched the HUGE crowd outside the gates of DCA. No idea of wait times, just a large large crowd at 8:30 a.m.

Saturday, we went to DCA at 10 and the line snaked down to across from Soaring on that side of Grizzley. We walked up the hill after Soaring and the adventure park (so, gotta be at least 11:30 at this point) and there was a SECOND line that wrapped 3-4 times on the uphill side of Grizzly. Because that was a new line, we were nosy and asked what they were waiting for....FP for WOC.

So, then Sunday....we did dining at Ariel's/WOC dining and was okay dinner with the exception of the dessert tray. We finished dinner at 7:20ish and walked across the bridge, they were already diverting foot traffic. We walked right in and got on the tier right below VIP section. Not crowded up there at all (and never was).

As we were leaving, huge huge huge line from the corner there at Palace of Fine Arts all the way down past Grand California and some frantic folks begging for directions to the "yellow line". There was a second line in that same area by Grizzly Run (where the smoking area used to be) and a third line appeared off to the side across the way from the Palace of Fine Arts bldg. that 10 p.m. show needed more CMs directing traffic. Still saw lots of management.

Was it worth the pricey meal. It had lots of WOW factor. Very WOW.

We also did the Ariel dinner package but we did it last Thursday. We went to the second show and while WOC was great the lines and CM's directing you to lines seemed to be somewhat disorganized. Each CM gave us different instructions about where to go and what to do. There was a supervisor in our area when we got there so my DH stopped and talked to him for a few minutes about the confusion. We would definitely do the show again but next time will just get the picnic lunch since they were in the same area as we were.

I'm so grateful for this thread. I read through all the posts, and have decided what to do next month. We will just do the picnic packages for my family. I have to see if my husband is interested in going. If not, I can just take my 4 and 8-year olds. Hopefully, they open up the purchasing online for Sept. soon so I can reserve.
