at Noon you can get a ticket on the app for the show, it assigns you a section to stand in

How's the view like from that assigned section? Is it any less crowded than just trying to stake out a spot the old fashioned way?

No less crowded. It’s basically the main viewing area. You want less crowds its the dessert party or the dining package.

Oh ok. What's the point of it then? Just saves a bit of time not having to stake out a spot for as long?

You can’t stake out a spot unless you have it. Then once everyone with the virtual queue get in like 5-10 mins before the show they open it to anyone without. Else you have to stake out a spot on the bridge to Pixar pier.
