WOC -- reserved seating or preferred?

Is the WOC reserved seating worth it? Trying to decide between that and the Preferred seating. I actually think we would enjoy the picnic more than a sit down meal with our kids but want to do know exactly what we are signing up for. We will have my FIL with us and I worry about the seating. If it makes sense, we will pay up and do the Preferred.

Hi Taitai:

First and foremost, there is no seating for World of Color. What you get is a Fastpass Ticket that allows you into the viewing area to stand.

The Preferred Viewing I believe is a bit more central, and you have more elbow room. However,no matter where you stand, you won't be able to see if some big tall person stands in front of you, or decides to lift his kids onto his shoulders at the last minute. Plus you have to herd up like a cattle call to get into the standing area.

Personally, I wouldn't buy a meal to get access. . .you can get a FP in the morning from the machines by GRR for free.

My family has enjoyed the World of Color dining package at Ariel's Grotto and the Wine Country Trattoria several times, and felt that the preferred viewing area (notice I did not say 'seating') was a much better choice than trying to see it with the FastPass access.

Because we have teens, we liked the more casual dining options at Ariels than Wine Country Trattoria.

Getting to our preferred viewing area was so much easier than dealing with the queue for the regular viewing area (accessible with the FastPasses).

We don't do this option often, but for the few times that we have seen the show, we've felt that it was worthwhile.

DH and I got the picnic package and thought it was totally worth it so that we didn't have to get to the park at opening to get the fatpasses. The food was decent enough, and we just figured that we'd spend that much $ anyways on lunch, so the picnic package worked out well.

I wouldn't do the splurge dinners unless you were planning on eating there anyways. In my opinion, the $25 or $30 (whatever it was) that we threw down for the picnic package seemed worth it, but I kind of cringe when I think about spending double or more on a dinner that isn't from the fanciest restaurant in town!
