WOC railing question (really stupid, I know!)

I've been reading all the WOC threads, and the same question keeps popping up - when you talk about standing at the railing for best views (for my kids and me, who is only 5'1") do you mean the railing is in FRONT of you (so you're first row) or BEHIND you (so you're at the higher elevation - I'm assuming that the grounds are sloped)? TIA!

No, I do not believe the grounds are sloped. You need to be standing AT the railing, with the railing in front of you.

Thanks, Brenda! I knew it was a dumb question, but still had to ask it.

Exactly. You have to stand right behind the railing to get the best view. My 7 YO DD is 4' 2" and had a great view.

Thanks, vpalmer! And did you do FP or one of the meals (picnic, AG or WCT) for him to get that view?

We did the WCT dining and ended up in the center "green" section. We were right behind the railing of the rounded area which is basically front and center. Personally, I think every railing in the blue and yellow sections (on either side of the green center section) will have as good of a view.

The Blue and Yellow sections are picnic sections and I think premium dining people can overflow into that section as well.

If the following chart is correct, they're not calling it the "green" section anymore -- I think they're just calling it the "Preferred Dining" section (for the 9:00 and 10:15pm shows).

Not a dumb question at all-I was wondering the same thing! Thanks everyone for all the great info!

Just to clarify, the preferred dining section was not called the green section on our ticket but, during the pre-show we were called the green section and we represented by the green puppet Mike from Monsters, Inc.

We went on Sunday and had the picnic. We had yellow tickets and lined up around 6:45. We were on the second level as we didn't want to get wet. We were standing up against the railing, right next to the little "stage" for the pre-show. (You can see the two platforms in the pictures above).

We had a great view with one exception - in the section below us (lowest level of yellow) there was a tall man that had his daughter on his shoulders. She is in almost every picture we took and was blocking the center "screen". To make it worse, about 10 minutes into the show, she put on her princess ears, the one that's tall and cone-shaped.

And make sure you're out of the way of a corner light post. They really block the views.

Thanks, Sac and Lissa! I guess it's a cr*pshoot if we unluckily get someone as rude as that, putting their kids up on their shoulders. Same type of people who push their way to the front after others have been standing in line. Gotta just hope that what goes around, comes around! :thumbsup2
