Hello, on our upcoming trip World of color is a must see. Wanted to make it special for my husband since it's his 1st time seeing the show. My question is would it be better to book a dining package for the tickets or book the dessert party? What is the difference besides the price.
Thanks all

The thing that made me choose the dessert party over the dining package is seating vs. standing. If you do the dessert party, then you are seated at a table with a a great view of World of Color. With the dining package, you stand for the show. While the location is good versus the stand-by or FP area, you still have to queue up to get a good space.

We've done all three viewing options for WOC, and all three have pros and cons. We like all three, so our choice just depends on what we want to prioritize.
1) WOC Dessert Party: very fun, most expensive choice, no AP discount, the only option (other than VIP or HC viewing) that gives you a chair, comes with a dessert plate and beverages (alcohol or non), waiter service, requres the least amount of waiting time. Can be a great view, but comes with the risk of some obstruction from pedestrians who park in front of you on walkways through the viewing area or from the dreaded "shoulder kids." We've had very good experiences with the Dessert Party overall, but it is a pricey treat.
2) Dining Packages: very fun, good with larger groups if everyone can stand (Dessert Party seats tables of 4 usually, so larger parties can be a little awkward if everyone wants to be close together), comes with a full meal (good if you were planning to eat at WCT or CCR anyway and for big eaters who want more for their money than a dessert plate), AP discounts apply (yay!), can do lunch or dinner, WCT area is up front and CCR area is further back, viewing areas are very good (center views -- someone recently posted here that they did both choices 1 and 2 and preferred 2 -- so choice 1 isn't automatically best for everyone!), requires a moderate amount of waiting time for a good view (not nearly as much as with free FPs). Does come with the de facto risk of "shoulder kids" or tall people possibly obstructing your view.
3) Free FPs: still fun if you've done your research and know what to do and where to go (totally NOT fun if you're clueless), free (!), much easier to get and to deal with for the second show (if there is one that night), great viewing is possible for free, does require the most wait time of all the options in order to get a great view. As with both of the above choices, does come with the de facto risk of "shoulder kids" or tall people blocking or obstructing your view.

If you want to make it special for your DH, I would go with choices 1 or 2, depending on whether he would prefer dessert and a chair or a full meal (we prefer CCR over WCT). Both choices are special and fun. :)

Thanks so much for all the wonderful details :) this is exactly what I needed to know. Hubs is 6'7 so I think I like the idea of the dessert party so we can sit and he isn't blocking someone's view with his height ;) thanks again :)

You’re so considerate.

After all the wonderful reviews my sis and I splurged for next week!

If your DH is tall even when seated, you might want to ask for a high table in the back row. When you are being seated, you can ask the CM about it.

Agree with others; very considerate. Wish more folks were like you!
