Hi! My family has never seen WOC, because as amazing as it looks, I have read about how difficult the viewing is for this show etc. I am wondering if we got to our viewing location 30-45 minutes before showtime, would we have a decent viewing spot? I really don't think my 4-year-old would do well with waiting any longer than that. Will he be able to see most of the effects?

Honestly, probably not. I was there last weekend. They open up the area to pick a spot at 8:00 for the 9:00 show, and the railing spots on all levels are the first to go. People will sit while they wait, but everyone stands when the show starts. If you only wait for half an hour you will not have a great chance of him being able to see.

For prime viewing, investing 60-90 minutes of wait time is recommended. If there will be another adult with you, you can get your viewing spots, then take turns taking the 4yo to do things during the wait. CMs understand that little ones can't always sit for that long. Just make sure the CM at the entrance to your viewing area knows you are leaving. You should receive your FPs back to allow you to return to your area.

We waited the 90 minutes and took turns taking the kids to get food and go to the bathroom, then my nearly 4 year old slept through the entire thing!

How badly do the others in our group want to be able to see the show? Another option is to stand in the very back of a section, in the area that is up against the walkway, and then hold up the child once the show starts. You could hold him on your back (like a backpack) or on your hip or perhaps even put him on your shoulders (assuming no one is behind you and you aren't blocking the view of those in the next level up). At least then the little one has a chance of seeing the show. The other adults in the group may not have a very good view, but that's an option.

One option you have is to go to the "wet" zones. This is right up front and most people tend to avoid them because, well, you get a little wet. However, there's usually good spots to see the show 30 minutes before the show in the yellow zone area. And I'd be willing to bet that your 4yo would have a very memorable time if there's some water involved.

Thanks for everyone's input! I think we will try for the "wet" zone, and if there aren't any good spots left, we will head to the back where I can hold my son. I just read about people watching from the bridge to Paradise Pier as well. Does this spot fill up rather quickly? Would this be a good option for my son to see from?
