It is not going to be a thigh and a leg. It will be a breast and a chicken WING leg. Or it could be two regular pieces of chicken. We did these last July, and I was surprised at the "leg" (it literally was a chicken wing sized leg, the mini ones you get in an order of buffalo wings). The point is they say you get 4 oz of meat either way.
I am on the fence about the picnics. If you want/need FPs and won't be in the parks til the afternoon, it's a good option. ALSO remember there are two showings of WOC in the summer. If you want the LATER showing, they let me PICK which show. (rather they gave us tix for the first show, but I went up and asked and they let me have passes for the later showing). I recommend doing the later show if that works out for you child-wise. A) less prewaiting and B) better chance of good viewing.
We had yellow section, but were able to be at the railing of the water. Best possible view. Have also done back of Red, which because we were at the front of the back section at the highest possible point, wasn't THAT bad (but still no railing view).
I had the antipasto. I really did like it, but I didn't feel it was very filling. I THINK they may have taken the dipping vinegar/oil away and it looked like there was a little more cheese than I remember. I liked it all (except the peppers, i hate peppers). Maybe it's that it was all cold, that made it seem less filling. The desserts of all the meals were GREAT (except the kids! which have a frostingLESS cupcake). The chicken was good, even cold. I LOVED the potatoe salad BUT it is one of those items that you either LOVE or HATE. That's the thing- the side items seem to be very hit and miss. If you end up not liking them, that's a substantial portion of your food. The kids are a good value, and yes, the bags were nice (I had 8! of them), but really... I am pretty sure I won't do that again anytime soon. I would be more willing to try the dinner package than the picnics again.
However, I'm actually on the fence about WOC itself. Don't get me wrong. It's worth seeing. I just don't like the logisitics. The having to get a FP in the a.m. The fact that having a good standing view is key to enjoying and seeing the show. The fact that to get good seats you have to find where to line up ahead of time. And wait there an hour before they open the viewing area, and then wait another at least half hour for the show. And then another half hour of the show. END of the night, and the logistics make it crappy. But that's me. I hope over time it become more like F! That if you REALLY want a good seat you can stake it out ahead of time. And if not, then you get a decent view but you don't take 2+ hours out of your night and standing on tired feet. Or if you want you can spend $ and get dessert and a chair.
