We will be at DL the last week of May and I am wondering how we would know if there happened to be any soft opening showings of WOC. Would there be any announcements, would it be in the entertainment guide or maybe signs posted or something else? Should I even get my hopes up the least little bit?

Well today in Al Lutz column it said "soft openings for the show begin, perhaps sometime between May 12th and May 18th under the current timetable". I am assuming that the soft opening will start between these dates and will continue on until the end of the month. By the sounds of the rest of the column, Disney is having a headache of a time trying to figure out how to accomodate everyone who wants to see this show. The viewing area was supposed to hold 9000 but now its only 6000 and some of the viewing areas have awful locations where you wont see much. So with time pressing I can imagine they are going to want to bring through as many people for soft openings as they can before the opening day, and major summer rush. I can imagine this show going on until the end of may. There is talk of them doing 3 shows a night as well. This will help you see the show.

I am wondering the same thing. We will be there the 11th -16th. I remember reading a thread about a month ago, and it mentioned that during the fantasmic soft openings, that the cm's at the DLR hotels knew if there when they would occur. Not sure if the same thing will happen or not, but here's to hoping and wishing!!

I guess it won't hurt anything to ask the front desk CMs then...would hate to have a chance and then miss it...

CMs will tell you ahead of time as you go into the gate. THey will also announce it on signs...

Which signs? and as you enter the park? I probably going to try to catch a soft opening but don't want to miss out of DL entertainment if there is nothing going on in DCA>

we will be there may 16-21
glad to know there may be signs, but know I will be aking all and every CM I see at disneyland hotel and in teh parks about possible WOC showings each and every day we are there and perhaps even multiple times/places each day
Here is to getting to see WOC soft opening... pixie dust pixie dust pixie dust for me and my family

I hope they do show it multiple times for their soft opening. I'm hoping to put kids to bed and catch a later showing by myself. It'll be much easier to navigate as a single, albeit petite, person! Since we're staying at GCH, it'll be easy to get to the park.

*hoping for a soft opening next week!*

If they want you to know it the signs will be obvious. I'm sure by 10am every cast member in the park will know too. If they aren't working they will want to go now. Just ask.

There is city hall, and information desks as you walk into the parks. They will be 100% Up to date. They have to be prepared to be bombarded by all the questions. I would just go ask there.

I hope there are mega soft openings so they can get their crap together before we get there!

This may be a ridiculous question, but will the soft openings be a complete "dress rehearsal" complete with "get your showpass here?", or will people just start lining up at 4pm for a 9pm show? Anyone know??

We're there from May 16-26, but I'd rather not dedicate an entire afternoon/evening to reserving a spot for a WOC soft-opening.

No one knows around here (except maybe Albort but he won't talk!) but I would have to guess they would use Showpass for some of the soft openings. They want to test out their concepts and that is part of it - a totally new thing. Hate to have Showpasses spit out on June 11 for opening day and have it mess up and then have to deal with the crowd disaster which follows!

Thanks, Hydroguy - that's sort of what I figured. I guess my first question to the CM is "Will WOC be showing today?" Question 2 is "Will I need a showpass and how does that work?"
That should keep the bases covered!;) How I love to be a guinea pig!

Soft Openings will be communicated to guests through Cast Members throughout the park along with signs posted at various locations in the park. I have already seen some of the signs that are already prepared ;)

Usually with shows like these when Disney does soft openings that are planned to happen for a few weeks they go ahead and add them to the show guide. the white sheet sthey hand out at the entrance. They also place signs on stand at the entrance with the usual disclaimer that it is a preview and can be cancelled at anytime without warning

Is it true that soft openings are usually held only on weekdays?
