WOC - dissappointed

We just got back, and we had a blast. We used the WOC dining through AG, and it was great - as advertised.

However, as a group (2 adults, and kids 17, 15, 13, 9) we all agreed World of Color itself was a disappointment. It was basically a water fountain show, with a couple of vidoes on mist screens. :confused3

Don't get me wrong, it was impressive. But it was just a fountain water show. A little bit of fire, a couple of lasers.

All of the kids liked Fantasmic! better - it was more engaging.

None of them wanted to watch WOC again, and none thought it was worth the wait.

All of them wanted to see Fantasmic! again. And they all thought it was worth the wait.

Anyone agree?

:)

WoC is nice, but I still love F! way more than WoC. Its still new, but time will tell if people like it or don't like it. The only thing I have a problem with the show is the viewing section. I love the way that F! has its ground sitting area right next to the ROA and the farther you are away from the railings, the higher you are during the show.

Ummm, yeah my family liked Glow Fest better! DS6 & DS9. We actually saw WOC first from our room @ Paradise Pier. I was pretty sure that we weren't going to be too impressed with WOC...so we didn't buy a preferred dining package. After watching it from our room, we decided not to do the fastpass thing either. We managed to get a fairly decent walk-up spot tonight. It was fine, even technically impressive, but the lack of a plot just doesn't evoke that emotional response we need to get into it. I just can't believe the time involved to wait for a fastpass and then the time to wait get into the viewing areas. And on top of that, the show seems too long. It's really hard to stand in one place for that long -- at least it is for me after being in the parks all day, even with a break in the afternoon! Now, GlowFest --- THAT was a good time! We got a couple of hot dogs for the kids, gyros from the Greek truck for us and the music & dancers were great! We could have stayed there for another hour! And we got some Greek donuts w/ Nutella on them....Ohhhh!!!! So glad we didn't settle for hot dogs -- the gyros were really good! Might have to try the Greek truck tomorrow & try something else from there...seriously it's good food...The music for Glow Fest seems to be mostly 80's that they've put a techno beat to update it. Every now & then they throw in something current from the Disney Channel teen stuff.

Awww, I'm sorry to hear that your family didn't enjoy it as much as expected.

How does WoC compare to the Bellagio fountain show?

My kids saw it last Thursday night and loved it...more than Fantasmic. They said even the 2 hour wait to get in (plus my daughter being shoved down by a grown man) was worth it.

I guess I'm just s geek because the technology that makes a few fountains and mist projections tell a story impresses me! But different strokes form different folks!

With the color and projection screens I find it a definite few steps above the bellagio show, which I love and could watch for hours.

We saw both WOC and F! for the first time in June and also preferred WOC. Maybe because we had no "history" with F!, we're not as attached to it :confused3

VP just made our reservations for F at 0800 this AM, the debit card balance just dropped. We are cautiously waiting for our expereince with WOC, can not wait for Hydroguy's report other than the psig output of the nozzles:rotfl:.

The 2 hour wait certainly doesn't sound like fun, but what happened to your DD... yikes! I hope she's OK.

I enjoyed WOC, but if I had to choose just one nighttime show it would be Fantasmic.

See now if it was just me, I would skip BOTH shows and just ride Space Mountain, Big Thunder or the Matterhorn and call it good! DH and DS6 talked me into the dessert package for Fantasmic today......after the heart attack over the price and the artery clogging but incredibly yummy dessert, I still have to vote w/ Fanstasmic as a better show. AND I got to sit down and watch the show AND I didn't wait forever after coughing up enough dough to fund a small war in the third world! Geesh! Jury is still out w/ DS9 -- he doesn't want to pick sides and make either show feel bad....

Here is my take. WOC I think is a Wonderful show. Great effects, and the technology is wonderful. The water at times does look like paint. The problem here is there is no storyline. Fantasmic is still the show to beat in my opinion.

DGD7 gives it two thumbs up. She thought it was fantastic!

Indeed, after it was over, we were walking through Sunshine Plaza as the fireworks were starting. I suggested that we stop to watch the fireworks show. "Nah," she said. "After that, fireworks would be boring!"
