WOC: Dining package vs. Dessert Party-which would you do?

I noticed in the description it says " A sweet and savory selection of desserts and appetizers." I wonder if that just means the cheese they always gave, or could they be adding something new? I guess we'll see.

I wouldn't get my hopes up that anything new would be an improvement. We did the Oogie Boogie Bash parade dessert party in October, and the desserts were gross. None of us ate much. Definitely not as good as the WOC plates used to be. The drinks were really good though- both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. I would do it again though--- for the table and chair and all the parade characters interacting with us as they went by. I was dressed as Fairy Godmother and DD was rags Cinderella and lets just say the Stepsisters and Stepmother were glad to see me and wanting favors and not so much pleased to see DD LOL.

Definitely hoping the party is back in time for our trip, end of April thru first week of May. :P

I don't believe they've had the dessert party at DL for a number of years now: only the dining packages? I preferred the dessert party myself to the dining packages and really missed it these past few years.

WDW still had the dessert parties.

We did the dessert party for my 50th right before shut down, January of 2020.

When I visited in 2019, we were a bit late to check-in but luckily got high-top tables. I wonder if the lower tables are for groups of 4+? Is it just by luck if you get the high-top tables?

Also, I had no idea they sometimes group smaller parties together?! You're paying a premium, I would be kinda bummed!

They had the WOC dessert party at CA right up until the time WOC broke. Sadly, they haven't had the Fantasmic dessert party at DL in years, and we used to really love that one. The desserts and cheese and crackers were really good at that one too.

I loved WoC Dessert Party for the view, but we are a party of two and unfortunately had a bad experience with our table mates. While we knew there was a possibility of sitting with others, apparently the couple we were sat with did not. They raised a fuss with the CM right in front of us that they wanted their own table. They couldn't be accommodated and were visibly angry...they didn't say much to us. It was super awkward.

Not sure what your party size is, so this may be a moot point. We were also just probably unlucky...other reviews I've read where folks were sat with another couple there didn't seem to be an issue.

Two words : DESSERT PARTY. Seriously I booked it years ago when it first became an optrion and I will never watch WOC any other way again. Often I go solo since my DH hates sweets and now I'm solo more times than I can count anyway.
The seats are a damn blessing I swear and i'm also short so absolutely worth it to me. Now because Im solo Im often sat with others but I don't mind at all. If you have 3 or more likely you'll have your own table.

We were sat with another party of two that seemed like they didn't know this would happen ahead of time and it was the most awkward and uncomfortable experience I've had in a Disney park so YMMV.
Not sure the chair is worth possibly going through that again so we'll be looking at (hopefully) dinner packages on our next trip.

It absolutely says in the confirmation and know before you go you may be sat with others but you know...no one reads that then gets annoyed with the CM which irritates me to no end.
Keep in mind dining packages before were STANDING ROOM ONLY , just to be fully aware.

Another vote for dessert party! We did it a couple years ago and even though it was pricey it was 1000000% worth it for us and I wouldn't watch it any other way. If it's something important to see for you and either the price isn't a big deal or you can fit it into your budget, I'd go for it.

We did a dining package ages ago ~2015ish with my mom and it wasn't any better than a trip after that when we waited a bit and were able to get a spot towards the front on one of the sides. The standing around was brutal imo after a day of already being on your feet walking around.

So do we assume $120 when it comes back? I think the WDW party is $120.

Yes but keep in mind the WDW dessert parties are a BUFFET with unlimited alcohol too.
I just did the Treats ands Seats in January and it was amazing though and worth every penny and upcharge.

Are the WOC dessert parties available for sale yet? I cannot find updated information but kind of am surprised they are not listed at this point. Maybe I am looking in the completely wrong place?

Thanks so much for asking this question. I am skeptical the dessert party will be back the first week or so WOC starts (when we go), but still holding on to a small hope. Anyone know when/how/if they will announce it? Don't want to miss it when it drops!

I am anxious as well! We are traveling with another family that has never done Disney before (or any theme park actually), and I am so excited they will get to see WoC, but I also need to prepare them for whatever arrangement exists. Hoping to get the dessert party, but combined we are a party of 15 so I'm not holding my breath on that.

I've been checking for it every day, but no sign of reservations opening up yet.
