WOC Dessert party question # 53,598

No seating for dinner or lunch packages. The dessert party is the only seating option unless the VIP tours get seating.

Yes, the cup is great, but it can be a difficult pack if you are flying home! Cute and a nice take away, but awkwardly shaped to say the least. Our next (4th) WOC dessert party is on NYE!

True, but we'll figure it out. :) Hey, it is plastic right? Not glass. We'll manage to pack it but I don't want to worry about it breaking.

Yes, it's durable plastic. You can do a carry on tote or simply surround it with clothes in a larger checked bag. We brought it back each time and it's done well flying, just be prepared of it's size and odd shape.

Have fun!

I saw a seating area near the dessert party, what was that for?

Question about the WOC Dessert Party... after you make your reservation, do you still have to go somewhere to pick up your tickets prior to checking into your reservation? Or can you just arrive at the time of your reservation?

I did the F! dessert thing where you made your reservation ahead of time, then on the day, spent 45min waiting at city hall to pick up my tickets, well in advance of the reservation itself where you then showed the ticket.

Just arrive at the appropriate time like an ADR. Big improvement. I hated that ticket thing for Fantasmic too!

We just went last night. We arrived around 6:45. They have a podium setup with a cast member staffing it. Our reservation was for 7:15 for an 8:15 show. They were running late and didn't seat us until closer to 7:30. Seating was first come first served. We were the 5th party in line and picked a front row high top.

We were a party of two and they did ultimately sit another party if two at our table. It was great...a little chit chatting while we ate. No big deal.

Definitely my favorite way to do WOC...sitting and drinking champagne during the show was awesome.

Thanks! I'm seriously considering doing the WOC dessert party but same time, a party of four can get pricey. What are the alternatives? How early do I go to get a FP and then how early do I arrive in the viewing area to get a spot?

You can do the Dessert Party, a Dining Package (Ariel's Grotto, Wine Country Trattoria, or Carthay Circle Restaurant), or a free FP. All sections come with good to great viewing and also a risk of poor viewing depending on where you stand and who's in front of you. If you choose to go the free FP route, the quality of your view will depend on how much time you are wiling to invest in waiting. We've found that about 90 minutes wait guarantees us a great view in either the blue or yellow sections. Dining Packages usually require less wait time and the Dessert Party requires the least amount of wait time.

I will say that it's mostly "first come, first served". We were a party of 2, 3rd in line, and had some issues with that. Apparently the first party in line was also a party of 2 and chose a table we didn't want, and we had a lot of confusion in our seating because they told us we were already placed at the table the first part of 2 chose. So if you are a smaller party, it gets a little more confusing.

and honestly, I'd like to hear that they get more efficient with the seating..... I don't personally think that 80 pp is worth waiting 45 mins- an hour for.... when I could do that for free in the line next to me.... that's my personal feeling after doing the DP. I think it was magnified for my experience b/c I had my MIL with me, who was having an issue with all the standing and waiting to sit..... and paying for that. still fun however....and that gf macaron ....oh yummmm

I know most have loved the dessert party. But we won't do it again. Of course, our perceived value is affected by the fact that my daughter is 16 and I don't drink. I hate having to pay for alcohol at all these Disney upsells when we don't drink.

Ha! teenagers, my ds is still offended that he couldn't get hot chocolate for the party..... (it was a cold night lol)

They didn't have hot chocolate as an option? Our night wasn't too cold so we never asked. I sort of thought they should have offered my daughter one of those cool WOC cups. I don't get why they think they can offer different things to different people paying the same price.

Officially the cups are 12 & under. I think it should be cup or adult beverage.

I know. She didn't expect the cup or even ask for one. I just thought it would have been nice, especially since neither of us was drinking the adult beverages.

We went on December 10th and my daughter ordered hot chocolate and had 2 of them. We never asked what types of drinks they had. We just ordered what we wanted and got what we wanted.

They were serving coffee when we went, not sure about hot chocolate though.

We were a party of two...there was another two top that was seated first, but they still let us pick our own table. They sat a two top at the table next to us after we sat down...they ended up having that table to themselves.

I do agree that it was annoying we had to wait in line so long. They let in one of the FP sections before they seated the DP section. But, it was also our choice to line up that early. We still would have gotten a seat if we showed up at 8:10...maybe just not the one we really wanted. Although, I don't believe any of the seats in that section were bad seats.

They could eliminate the folks waiting in line if they assigned seats ahead of time. Heck, my movie theater lets me pick my seats when I book my tickets. DL could surely offer something similar.
