WOC - Dessert Package - Convince Me

So are the desserts all you can eat or just a small plate of them?

We did the Dessert Party in March when we went as part of a girls trip (two moms, two daughters) and loved it so much we're going to do the whole thing again next March. And now that we know what to expect (tons of desserts), we're going to do it the first night of our visit so that we have the desserts to graze on over the next few days. Seriously - SO MUCH FOOD. Note - those light up cups, while cool, are enormous. And it's cool that they light up with the show, but, honestly, it's not like they're ever going to fill that purpose ever again, because there's no way we're lugging the things BACK into the park.

We did the WCT dining package when we were there this past June as a family, and we were up against the rail (DH and DD wanted to be in the "wet zone" - I sure would have preferred not to have been). Note that, when they say "You will get wet" they're not saying you'll be a little damp. YOU WILL BE DRENCHED.

Having done the two, I'd far rather do the dessert party every time.

I posted some pictures at the beginning of the thread. Here is the plate of desserts. It's not all you can eat but with the accompanying bread basket it's a decent amount of food.

ETA Each person gets a plate and the bread basket is shared between you.

I really enjoyed our WoC dessert party. So much so that I would do it again. It will be hard to go back. We had an amazing view right in the center but elevated above the rest. The desserts were very good. I had an allergy plate and Inthiught it was even better than the others. The alcoholic drinks were good but pretty weak.
Couple things to know: we were a group of two and we were at a table with two other people. Right next to them. Just be aware of that. The chairs are comfortable but awkward. I was wedged in between people and Infelt like I couldn't easily move my chair which was a little annoying. For the money Disney could upgrade the chairs and tables.
BUT, overall, loved it. Best way to see the show.

We loved the dessert party. This was the highlight of the trip for my kids, even my picky eater who only liked one of the desserts but ate the bread, cheese, and grapes. The waitress offered all three kids glow cups -- my oldest looks over 12, but she didn't want him to feel left out. The cups are huge, but they remind them of the night when they were "VIP". They carried them onto the plane and my DD was drinking water out of hers last night. People lined up much earlier than I expected -- the line was long more than a half hour before the 8:15 p.m. check-in time for a 9 p.m. show, but we rode Ariel first and then ended up at a high table behind a low table, which worked great. Our view was not perfect, because people held their kids on their shoulders and we were near the steps where people walked up randomly, but we could see everything fine and were not bothered.

That's not good. You had a high top table but yet people still blocked part of your view?

There were two parents holding kids on their shoulders, quite a distance in front of us, and occasionally someone walked by, interfering with our view of the right edge of the projections. We still considered it a very good view and much better than if we had stood almost anywhere. The tallest in our group is 5'5'' and my two daughters are well under five-foot. We also very much enjoyed sitting down in chairs for the show.

If you don't mind me asking what allergy do you have? I am considering doing the party but I am gluten free so not all of the desserts are safe for me to eat.

I just booked the dessert party but did not see any option to note that our boys have tree nut allergies. Do you tell the CMs upon arrival?

It's quite a sizable amount of food. We wound up bringing about half of it back with us, and we grazed on it for the next few days. We learned our lesson - do the dessert party the first night, and then have all the food left over to eat the rest of the time we're there!

Did you click on add special requests in the final payment/add phone number window. When I click on it, allergy to tree nuts shows up. If you didn't do that, you can always rebook it and check the tree nut allergy on the new reservation. It says someone will contact you regarding the allergies. I don't know if they do or if your server just deals with it when you are there. Do make the notation ahead of time, though. My husband asked for gluten free stuff at a party and was told that he could only eat one of the desserts and the cheese. We didn't enter in a gluten allergy ahead of time.

Thank you! For some odd reason I didn't see that option the first time. I re-booked with the tree nut allergy noted.

We did the dessert party near the end of our trip. My kids don't like coconut, and four Mickey macaroons in less than two days was too much, even for me. I managed to get the last one through airport security to eat as we waited to fly home.

We booked for our second last night so great idea if treats are taken back in a doggie bag

I am one who just can't stand standing like a sardine in a giant crowd, and DD is shorter, so she can never see well with all the adults and kids on their shoulders around her. For me, the chair set away from the mass crowd was worth the cost of the party! DD was 13, and they brought her the kids glow cup.

We just did the dessert party on Sunday. It was a definite splurge for us but SOOO worth it! My kids, ages 10 and 6, and the rest of our party all had a great view. We were at a high table behind a low table. Our server was excellent and kept the kids entertained until the show started. The desserts were yummy, as was the cheese, though way too much! We all took leftovers back to the hotel. The kids loved their light up cups and the adults enjoyed their beverages as well. Yes its pricey but I'm so glad we did it. It was so nice having a seat! My feet hurt so bad by that evening that I was so thankful we weren't standing and crammed in like you can be in the fastpass areas.

Thank you for all the feedback. I sure am convinced and glad we booked.

kristie101...my feet hurt even before coming to Disney so I"m sure i'll really appreciate the dessert party seating.

This is the thread that convinced us to do the dessert party. I had trouble finding any info on doing the party with a "free" 2 year old, so I thought I'd share our experience. It was just me, my husband, and our 2 year old. We arrived around 8:15 and there was already a long line, so we were one of the last families to get let in. We still got asked if we wanted a high or low table, and with the little one we decided closer to the ground was better. We were seated at a low table right in the middle of the section. We got the whole table to ourselves. (Disclaimer: we went on a Tuesday at the end of August and though all the tables looked full, it may not have been fully booked.) My daughter was given one of the WOC light up cups with her choice of drink. The desserts kept her occupied until the show started, and once it started she was so mesmerized by the show she didn't make a peep. It was a great time, and I'm glad we did it!

That's great. Thanks for reporting back and glad the post helped you! Sounds like it worked out well.

I'm OP and am really happy that we went with the WOC Dessert party. The view was great. We misread the time and thought we had to be there 7:15pm instead of 7:30pm, so we were in line for 45 minutes, but it was fine. We got our choice of table (high top in front) and had a great view. I totally understand now how your view can be blocked easily if standing. Our kids were so happy to have their very own dessert plate and loved the cups. I agree with the advice that it was worth the splurge.

I'm so happy you enjoyed it ! I ALWAYS get in line early because I typically do it solo ( Hubby isn't a fan of desserts) and like to have my top choice of high top tables. The last few times I've made friends in line chatting it up and they graciously invited me to join them at their table since being solo I would be paired with another party anyway which is to be expected. I've now done the dessert party for 60th WOC , Classic WOC , Winter Dreams WOC and last year's Season of Light which is returning this year and AMAZING. I can't say enough good things about it and will always recommend it.
