WOC - Dessert Package - Convince Me

Ah ok. That makes total sense. I thought the desserts was given out during the show but if you have that first, then you want to enjoy. Thanks for explaining.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I'm convinced. What's $400 more right? (We're Canadian so its more for us). I do like the idea of having a seat and not having to fight with others to get a rail spot. I mentioned to our kids and my son's face lit up...think he heard the word 'dessert' and that was the seller. :flower: This is probably our only DL trip so we'll add to the memories.
Fellow Canadian here, BC born and raised. I totally get the extra cost. Everything is more expensive for us but honestly this is one that I didn't even bat an eye to book. Definitely a worthy splurge. Enjoy!! :)

It seems as though you have made up your mind but I wanted to add my voice to the "go for it" camp! We're Canadian as well so I get the cost issue but I would still do it! We've done WoC 4 times, WCT once, CC twice and the last time was the dessert party. The party is WELL worth the cost and having a seat is lovely! We were seated in the second row at a high top table behind a low top. (High top = tall bar height table, low top = shorter regular height table) if we were to do it again and we could request a specific type of table, I think we would ask for a first row high top but we were 100% happy with our table.

The bread and cheese along with the desserts were more than we could eat and we specifically ate a light late afternoon meal and skipped dinner.

22Tink and Aldora...hello fellow Canadians. We're from Ontario. At least the dollar is going the right way and better than it's been.

Aldora, good that you can compare and see what you like. Must be an amazing show. Can't wait! Great..thank you for explaining high top. I thought it was perhaps raised area but it's the actual table height. Obviously high top gets you a better view as less chance of standing people in the way. We're thinking the same as you wrt the dessert plate...a late lunch and then that will be our dinner. :D

30 min before your reservation time. Dont shortchange yourself on your time in the dessert party! You want the full time to enjoy your food and drinks because once the show starts they don't come to your table.

We showed up 15 minutes of showtime (they already took down the dessert party signage).

The server loaded us up and knew we wouldn't have time to finish drink 1, so she brought 2 for us along with the to-go containers which we would've needed regardless of time. She still had enough time to take a photo of us too so we weren't so late we missed out on big stuff.

I agree that getting there prior to 15 minutes before would be better, but if you get a FP you want you use like we did, you certainly can and won't miss much.

Here's what is likely considered the "worst" seats. (Last to show!) We had no problems with it at all.

Excuse the scribbled faces, privacy.

Those still look like decent seats! I just liked getting there a bit earlier to be able to relax and enjoy the drinks and desserts before the show. We paid good money for it and wanted to enjoy it!! That's why we go earlier, to relax, not so much to get a better table because I definitely agree with you that they're all good seats.

Really appreciate all the feedback. Dessert table it is. My kids are talking about it already...lol.

And great advice on here...try for a high table (front row) if we can...and get there 30 minutes before the booking. Thank you!

DH and I are both from Ottawa but have been in Victoria, BC since 1996 and 1992 respectively.

If I remember correctly, you are going this month? We were in Ottawa a few weeks ago and DH "talked" me into an August trip so we may be there the same time!

Depending on the ages and tastes of the peoole you are traveling with, you may want to check out the Alfresco Tasting Terrace for a mid-afternoon meal. (And maybe a wine fllght as well?) We did this and it was more than enough to hold us over until the dessert party for sure.

We're not so far from where you were born (Toronto) and I went to university in Ottawa. Lovely city.

Yes...coming to LA on 24th and at Disney Aug 29 - Sept 1. Ha ha..good if DH to have convinced you for a Disney trip. Thanks for the advice about mid afternoon meal. Will check it out.

We have a couple of crossover days, we are there Aug. 27-31 but our park days are 27-30.

DH never has to twist my arm too hard, we have APs that expire mid September and we have gone twice on these APs so this is a bonus trip. One of the summer camps that DS was going to attend was cancelled so DH suggested that we go to DL instead! The morning after he suggested that, I got a pin code email with an amazing deal for the GCH.

Mendocino Terrace is another place for light snacks, they have a cheese plate and a cold cut plate that would be good for sharing.

It definitely sounds like this trip was meant to be!

We did the Dessert Party in March when we went as part of a girls trip (two moms, two daughters) and loved it so much we're going to do the whole thing again next March. And now that we know what to expect (tons of desserts), we're going to do it the first night of our visit so that we have the desserts to graze on over the next few days. Seriously - SO MUCH FOOD. Note - those light up cups, while cool, are enormous. And it's cool that they light up with the show, but, honestly, it's not like they're ever going to fill that purpose ever again, because there's no way we're lugging the things BACK into the park.

We did the WCT dining package when we were there this past June as a family, and we were up against the rail (DH and DD wanted to be in the "wet zone" - I sure would have preferred not to have been). Note that, when they say "You will get wet" they're not saying you'll be a little damp. YOU WILL BE DRENCHED.

Having done the two, I'd far rather do the dessert party every time.

I hear you on those cups! My DD insisted on bringing it home last year. :rolleyes2
While she does use the insert, the huge glowing part just takes up space in my kitchen. I told her this year she could just bring the insert home, not the huge shell.

Ours is in a cabinet, where it has remained, untouched, since we brought it home. It may turn up in a future garage sale.

We did this on our last trip ..... LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it!!!!! I could really have cared less for the dessert and drink but those chairs, awe those chairs for achy feet!!!!

Originally when I made the reservations it was going to just be DS and his GF. I couldn't really get the rest of my family excited enough to pay for this so of course, I just bit the cost and got everyone a ticket. They now will gladly pay for their own the next time we go lol! Although I do agree, it's not going to be an every trip thing for us.

We always end up passing on WOC because I just can't stand the whole crowding and fighting for a place to stand for 2 hours when my feet are already killing me thing so when I saw this we were excited to try it. I think the chairs and limited crowds were well worth the joy of being able to sit there and watch the production without the frustrations that come with being sumshed in the crowd.

I agree with the above posters, I'm not really sure any of the seats are bad, don't waste time getting there early but do get there a few minutes before the "seating" time.

ETA: And while the boys in are group are all able to see standing (6' or taller) the women range in height from 4"10" to 5'3" so we never would have seen anything if we were getting stepped on in the crowd!

Ha ha...sounds like those cups are useless (and a nuisance) after the fact but lots of fun during the show.

5forMickey, glad you loved it so much...and thanks for the feedback that any seat is good. I'm convinced. I have cancelled our dining package booking and opted for dessert package (then again, knowing me I could change my mind again next week...ha ha).

OP, your post is perfect timing for me! We are headed there later this month and I have been on the fence whether to splurge or not on the Dessert Party. I think think everyone here has convinced me too!

Sounds like you are in the same as us...not sure at first but convinced now. :P Enjoy. It does look like a great option!

My honest opinion is hands down I never want to see World of Color any other way haha. This experience has now spoiled me for all other dessert parties as well. We were on the 2nd row behind a set of short tables and really had a wonderful view. We were a group of 2 so were paired with another group of 2 and the mom/daughter were also so nice to chat with. We had done a dinning package before and that was okay but just having a place to sit, having a server bring us drinks, and then to top it off after the show our server offered to grab us bottles of water so we could continue enjoying our night well hydrated. I thought that was a nice touch. They also had to go boxes if you didn't eat everything.

Thank you. It's great hearing all these positive experiences. Sounds perfect and so nice that they went out of their way with the extra water.
