Ok I've been reading here.... and since I'm unsure if WOC plays nightly(does it?) and we are likely visiting at a busy time (Dec 15-18) AND we have some newbs with us(and I've only visited once here myself) I am considering the idea of a WOC package of some sort. Naturally I'm looking at prices, but advice needed, based on our short time(3 days) busier season, and DL trips probably not happening again..... In the past when we went, it was just 4 of us, and we saw the show 2x,once with a FP,and once around the side while walking,it was wonderful. Our group is larger this trip,(8 people) and I don't want to fight crowds/waste hours in line to really experience the show. WWYD? Is it worth it to pay for the dessert party, even tho the dining packages are so much cheaper? Is the real difference the seats, and is it that much more relaxing, is that what makes the $$$ is worth it? Since we will have my MIL along, she would appreciate seats I know....

We did the dinner package 4 years ago and the dessert package yesterday. To me it is worth the money to do the dessert package. With the dinner package you get a fast pass, stand in line, then stand till the show starts and hope that you can see once it starts. For the dessert package we got in line at 7:15 for enterence at 7:30, were seated by 7:40 and relaxed. Great view.

We did the Carthay Circle dinner package two years ago and the dessert party last month. I much prefer the dessert party. With the dinner package you still have to stand up the whole time, and it's not guaranteed you'll be able to see all that well, especially if you have kids. You can easily still end up behind others, some of whom may have kids on their shoulders. Dessert party is 100% more relaxing and we had a great view. It just had that Disney magic about it. The CC viewing area -- not so much.

My only concern for December would be if they will still have it then. I haven't seen anyone say how long they'll be doing the dessert party. Hopefully it's been successful enough that it will still be around in December, but who knows.

The dessert party is highly successful and I really don't see them discounting it since October dates are already open . I did it as a birthday treat and it was AMAZING. I love WOC but I'm short and standing for a good spot is exhausting, it's worth every penny and the food is delicious !!

I did the WCT package last year. I was kind of dismayed at how early you still needed to show up, sit on the ground and wait in a very crowded area. I did get a spot next to the rail when we had to all stand up (and wait and wait some more). However, there was a family behind me with two kids, maybe 6 and 8, and there was no way those littles were going to be able to see much over the adults in front of them. I let them stand at the rail in front of me so they could see.

I booked the dessert party for 2 weeks from now. I'm hearing that's a much less stressful experience. Looking forward to it!

Is the WOC dessert party non-refundable if you book and then change your mind? I notice you pay in full up front which is different from WOC dinner reservations.

While you do prepay it is refundable I think 48-72 hours before I just can't remember exactly, but is doable and believe states the cancellation period before final payment.

It's refundable within 24 hours. I actually made two reservations two nights apart (Thursday night and Saturday night) just in case the first night got rained out. Cancelled the Saturday on Friday morning and was refunded.

Thanks for posting this I also found this right from the party description online.

we did the dinner package back in 2011. i agree about the crowded area, sitting on the ground while waiting for the show to start...then being blocked by taller folks, esp with kids on shoulders. i booked the dessert party for 9/20 and am very excited to enjoy the show while sitting down with my family enjoying yummy desserts! yahooo!!!!

WOC plays nightly, year round. During your travel dates, all night shows (fireworks, parades) will be nightly.
This past Holiday season, 2 versions of WOC played nightly (Celebrate and Winter Dreams). If 2 versions are playing, go for "original" WOC (which returns in a few days :goodvibes).

wow- thanks for all the replies! I am going to try to convince my group that this might be worth our money.... I like the sitting aspect!

I'm not able to paste the link from my phone but if you go to the Disney website (not the app) it's under Make Dining Reservations.

You're wecome. I was able to get a date in late October even though the Park hours aren't out yet.

We have done both. I would by far choose dessert! We have done the dining package multiple times before the dessert package was offered. You still have to get in line about an hour early to get a good spot in the dining FP area since it is all standing (ignore the time on the dining FP unless you want to be stuck in the back). I am short, so we would always go down in the wet zone with ponchos and stand at the rail-- it was fantastic having absolutely no one in front of us-- but it still involved sitting down there on the ground for 45 minutes to an hour before standing for the show. With the dessert package, you only have to go there at the time it is marked (we were there a little earlier- but it was clear the tables were pre-assigned as people arriving later than us got better tables). You then sit down and get drinks served to you and a plate of food. The seat alone is worth it to me. It was the first time we had seen the show from farther back and while it is a better view at the rail with no one in front of you-- the view is still great and the seat is absolutely worth it. Plus, I would say unless we were at the rail itself with absolutely no one in front of us- that the dessert area is the best because of the spacing between tables. You aren't going to have someone standing directly in front of you where the only thing you can see is their back (which happens to me 90% of the time I try to watch fireworks from Main Street).
