WOC and rain

If you have a picnic package and it rains, what happens? Can you use the package the next day?

No, you still use the fast pass for that night. The picnic isn't for eating while watching WOC--it is just you get a little boxed lunch to eat anytime--and the box contains one fast pass. Most people pick up the picnic around lunch time.

We saw WOC in November in the biggest rainstorm I have ever seen at Disneyland Parks. It was freezing cold, windy, and pouring buckets. I was praying for it to end quickly or to be struck by lightening to put me out of my misery. It was so cold that my hands were bright red, and my lips were blue.

Ah yes, good times.

You don't get reserved seating with the picnic option. Basically, getting the picnic just saves you the time that you would have stood in line to get a fast pass. So with your picnic meal, you get a fast pass. This can be a good thing if you don't want to get into California Adventure first thing and stand in line for a WOC fast pass. But the fast pass line moves very quickly, and isn't that bad. We have done it both ways. The first time we saw WOC we got the picnics. You go to Wine Country restaurant and pick them up at their take out counter, and inside the picnics there is your fast pass for the first show. You can pick them up just before lunch, and there are picnic tables right there. Many people sit down and eat their meals right then. It tells you on the fast pass what time to come back to line up that night.

The next time we saw it was Thanksgiving week. It was SUPER crowded at the parks, but even with record crowds we just went into CA and went over to the fast pass line for WOC. It took us about 5 minutes in line to get our fast pass, so it was very easy. The only difference was that our fast passes were for the second show, not the first. I think the picnics are good if you have your heart set on the first show.

We ordered the picnic lunch for yesterday's show, and due to high winds the show was cancelled.

It says on the confirmation that "The owners of Disneyland Resort shall not be liable for non-utilization of ticket components or loss of recreational opportunities due to refurbishing, capacity, inclement weather, special events or circumstances beyond their control."
