We've stayed at BCV and BWV. This year we are doing BWV again. I feel like I need a change in atmosphere. My husband like being near the boardwalk. I was thinking of WLV instead. I don't really care about the unit itself, just the resort as a whole. Which is better and more fun? Kids are 5 & 9?????:goodvibes

We have stayed at both. BWV is one of our home resorts and we had the opportunity to stay at VWL last October. That trip was just DH & I . . . . our 15th anniversary. If my kids had been on that trip I'd give you their opinion. VWL was beautiful and very relaxing but I think the activities on the boardwalk, clown pool and general atmosphere is more fun. VWL does have the boat access to MK though. You'll have a great time at either resort!

If it was between VWL and BWV for us, we'd pick VWL in a heartbeat. We are not fond of BWV (too noisy and busy for us). But we really enjoy VWL because of the rustic feel of the resort. We have always been fans of Yellowstone. Plus it's only a short boat ride away from the MK. The geyer is rather neat, too, with the way that it erupts.

You can rent a boat to float out on Bay Lake. You can rent a bike to ride over to Ft Wilderness. Or you can walk over to Ft Wilderness and see deer and other animals in their natural habitat.

Its hard to say which is best because they both are very different. I have stayed in WLV 5 times and I can tell you it is a fantastic resort. You will definately enjoy it. :thumbsup2

We own at both BWV and VWL. I agree that they are very different atmospheres, and provide a very different resort experience. But we like both BWV and VWL for different reasons.

BWV has the Boardwalk itself, walking distance to two parks and lots of activity and restaurants nearby (including those in EPCOT).

VWL is more of a retreat for us...a peaceful haven after a hectic day at the parks. It is balm for the soul, and has terrific theming.

This doesn't sound good. If your husband really likes being near the boardwalk action/restaurants/location, he will be sorely disappointed in VWL even if he enjoys the resort itself. And who wants to hear over and over during a trip..."If we had stayed at BWV, we could have walked to MGM/EPCOT by now" as you wait for the park buses?

If your husband is up for a change of pace, I think VWL is a great choice. But if he is resistant, maybe as a last resort you could book a split stay at each so that you both get some of the vacation experience you're looking forward to? We don't like to move resorts during a trip, but if it came down to that or one of us wanting a different resort experience, we'd probably try it since Disney makes it pretty easy.

I agree with everything Granny said, the boat at VWL is a very nice mode of transporation to get back and forth, to the Magic Kingdom, we own at both too. They are totally different resorts. We love both of them.:thumbsup2

We luv them both;) , totally different vibe though.

WLV while more peaceful does have activities scheduled poolside for the kids and you get all of the bay lake area for watermouse exploring:thumbsup2 ; could walk over to FW too.

For us, the resort area (BW or WL); determines whether we spend most of our time @ Epcot area or MK on the trip.

We love them both AND love AKV, too! AKV and VLW are similar for me although I love the animals at AKV. BWV is great, too, but less relaxing.

I recommend giving VWL a try. Then you'll know for the next time.

WL is one of my favorite resorts (haven't stayed in the villas, though). One thing I do every time I stay there is jump on the boat over to the Contemporary and catch the monorail to each of the monorail resorts for some shopping and site-seeing.

We haven't been to Ft. Wilderness from WL yet, but we haven't been there since we had kids. The next time we stay there I plan on taking them to Ft. Wilderness so they can watch a movie around the camp fire and sing with Chip and Dale.

Hmmmm... maybe a new favorite?

Well, it's still no VB  , but actually, if you have never tried AKL, I think AKV deserves serious consideration alongside VWL. It had all the "plusses" that we associated with VWL, but to a greater extent. The resorts both have the same overall "vibe" - with exceptional signature dining, elaborate theme/detail, breathtaking lobby, secluded and quiet location - plus more luxurious rooms (flat screens!!! new beds!! big balconies!), animal viewing, and more resort-centered activities/recreation. :thumbsup2

I think this is the first reciprical posts we've had in many months. :) I was really glad when you posted that you "are alive". I understand the stress and demands of school starting up... I was just worried... seriously.

Glad to know that VB is still on the top of your list... We really, really want to try AKV. We have visited AKL in the past, and as you know we're the geekie animal lovers.... Don't care much about the dining, but really love the breathtaking lobbies. Flat screens, new beds, and big balconies are definitely a plus for us... I am sure we're going to love AKV... just don't know when we're going to get there.

Good to exchange experience again...
