When you stay at the WLV do you get the full atmosphere of the Lodge or is it better to stay in the lodge? I know villa guests still check in at the lodge desk but just wasn't sure if the villas are too far away to enjoy the atmosphere. What do you think?

hhhhmmmm.....that is a good question. we have stayed at both. of course you are sharing the restaurants and shop; so, you are in the lodge at times. the VWL are quieter and have a work-out room if that is important to you. also, there is a quiet pool there. i don't think you lose the atmosphere, it is just different at the villas.:p

Hi, We are DVC members and our 'home' is the Villas at WL. We bought in partly because we do love the WL very much. When we stayed as a guest at the lodge we would get courtyard views of the pool and we would get food and soda at Roaring Forks quite often. So now staying in the Villas it is alonger walk to the snacks and to the pool which isn't that big of a deal , but I do miss the view of the pool, courtyard and geyser from room.

i agree w/sonogirl. part of the reason we selected VWL as our other home is we love the lodge so much.:p

Okay - good information. We've never stayed at a deluxe resort and my husband definitely want to stay at the WL. With that being said, for a first timer, would you stay in the Lodge???

oooohhhhh yes!! you will love it! it is our favorite. be sure to make PS for a romantic dinner at artist point.:p

Both are wonderful. If you're looking for a refrig, microwave, toaster, coffee pot (or the luxury of a full kitchen, w/d, jacuzzi in a 1 BR), then choose the villas. There's only a small availability of villa rooms for non-DVC guests, however, and but there's always the option of trying to rent points from a DVC member and have them make the reservation for you.

The villas have very few rooms with a water view, but they're quiet and very comfy (queen bed and pull out couch in a studio), and just a few hundred feet away from the lodge building and the main pool. They're closer to the bus stop. If you're looking for the spectacular pool and lake view, you need a courtyard room in the lodge.

Check out the cost of each type of accomodation, and that might help you decide. Either would be a great choice.

Red roof are the Villas, Green are the Lodge - to the upper left corner is the boat launch to MK

It is a great place to stay for a trip - it was our first place we stayed in WDW and it was just amazing.

I walked into the lobby and my jaw dropped - I must have stood there for at least 5 minutes and a CM walked up next to me and said something along the lines of it is magnificent isn't it....

If you want to stay at VWL visit the DVC Rent/Trade board, renting points is almost always less expensive than a cash CRO/WTDC ressie

thanks

The VWL rooms are more quiet than the main lodge. I think the walls are insulated a little better than the main lodge. The VWL has a nice lobby itself. A couple of train cars from Walt Disney's train he had in his back yard are on display at the villas. Also, there are great rocking chairs, oak tables with chairs to play cards, checkers, and chess, and the best health club (I think) on Disney property is located at the villas. You are just a short walk to the main lodge (via covered walkway). If you stay in a studio at the villas, you get a coffee pot, microwave, refrigerator, small kitchen sink, and toaster (plus some paper plates, bowls, paper towels, and dish soap). If you move up to a one or two bedroom you get a jacuzzi tub and separate shower plus a full kitchen with a livingroom separate from the master bedroom (nice for privacy).

That being said, the main lodge is nice also. But, the main lodge is just regular hotel rooms (unless, of course, you rent one of the junior suites at the main lodge).

I prefer the studio rooms at VWL, but they cost more than the regular rooms at the main lodge (if you can even get one as it is DVC and the majority of inventory goes to members first).

We have stayed at both and they only problem I had with the WLV was the walk to everything, it seemed soooo much longer then when we had stayed in the Lodge...other than that it was very nice!
