What are the advatages and disadvantages? How does WL compare with AKL
that is where we stayed last time. Is the $600 difference over our trip that much more worth it?

Thank, YO

We stayed at WL and toured AKL last week.

We kept hearing people talking about how efficient bus system is to AKL so not to worry about the distance. Well, we didn't care for the long bus ride.

We also liked the theming of WL more. It's more airy and cheerful than the AKL one. We also liked the boat rides to MK. And the constant drumming by the kids in AKL, well, I'll take the rowdiness of WCC over the constant banging of the drums any day :)

We did find AKL CMs seem to be friendlier than the WL CMs.

My DH and I have stayed at both POR (RS & FQ) as well as the WL. I preferred the theming and peace and quiet of the WL. He liked the added food options at POR. The transportation issues are about the same. I guess it really depends on how much time you plan to spend at your resort. If I were planning to spend a couple of full days enjoying the amenities of the resort, I would pick WL. If I was basically just sleeping and eating breakfast there then I would pick POR.

I finally just made a decsion between POR and WL, and decided on WL. The main reason that I chose this resort (since I have not been to either one) is that we are going next DEC for a Pre-Christmas trip. From what I have gathered the WL is decorated beautifully and since it will be winter, even though it might not feel like it, I decided that the feeling of the lodge would be cozy and warm.

I think that either resort would be a great choice. It seems that a lot of people debate over these two. Good luck with your decision.

We'd always stayed at WL and then, with the lack of codes, ended up at POR last year. I was dreading it, thinking how much we love WL, etc., but we actually thought POR was great! We stayed in Arcadian House, mansions section, and the grounds and atmosphere were beautiful. The MODs have 2 double beds instead of 2 queen beds and, maybe because of this, we thought the size of the guestrooms at WL and POR felt about the same.

WL: Pros: Breathtaking lobby, beautifully themed pool, fun theme which is well-executed throughout the property, boat ride to MK, sit-down restaurant.
Cons: Price! Recent threads have mentioned noticeable wear in some guestrooms, only food court limited and medicore food

POR: Pros: Beautifully landscaped grounds, attractive and recently rennovated interiors, several quiet pools in addition to fun main pool, boat ride to Downtown Disney, full service restaurant in addition to large food court
Cons: Outdoor corridors (things aren't as easy in case of bad weather), resort more spread out than WL, in spite of curtain divider--bathroom not as "separate" from the bedroom as in Deluxes

All in all, for $600, we'd probably stay at POR without hesitation. We're not a "just in the room to sleep and shower" type of family, we want to enjoy our surroundings and accomodations and we did at POR. If there was a great price for WL, or money wasn't really an issue, I'd stay at WL to experience it. I don't think you can go wrong either way!

For us the $600 would definitely be worth it. POR is a beautiful resort but it is HUGE. It took us longer to walk from the food court to our room than it took us to walk from our room at WL to the boat dock. If money was a concern I'd stay at POFQ becaue it's a smaller resort but I'll never stay at POR again and would probably take a value over POFQ if I was really concerned about money.

The WL Christmas decorations are BEAUTIFUL!! We just got back from our trip, and I am already wanting to plan another trip!

We've stayed at both, and hands down I would pick WL again over POR.

Aside from the incredible decor, one of the greatest features I enjoyed was that after a short walk to Roaring Forks to get my morning coffee, I settled into a comfortable chair in the lobby to enjoy my paper and coffee while my family still slumbered most mornings. Listening to the bubbling springs and pleasant music, it was a great way to start my day. Once my family got up and ready, they knew exactly where to find me!

Our kids loved that they could easily refill their mugs anytime. The pool is so close to the food court that its a great spot to hang out and eat/snack without having to walk very much.

I also have stayed at both and enjoyed both. WL is my first pick for all the above mentioned reasons. WL also has indoor hallways and balconies.

Oh man you all are killing me :goodvibes
I'm still trying to figure it out.

I thank all of you for your thoughts. I hope more opinions and good explanations why keep coming in.

If I was at POR can I feel as comfortable sending my very responsible
DD's 13 & 10 to the gift shop ahead of us or to the food court as we did at AKL?

The extra $600 is pushing my very generous budget. :confused3

I really do appreciate and enjoy all of your thoughts and comments.

Thank you, YO

$600 is about $1.64 a day for a year.
