Does the Wilderness Lodge ever offer any kind of upgrades during the slow season? What types of upgrades do they offer if any? We have a standard view room their during the value season next year and was worried that our view might not be as pleasant as we would like it to be. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!!:)

We booked a woods view room and at check-in were told we were courtyard view, so someone gave us an unexpected free upgrade. We asked about an upgrade to concierge and was offered one at an additional $30 a night. We jumped on it and had a terrific room on the 7th floor with all the conciege ammenities for a great rate! Hope that helps.;)

Was that concierge upgrade $30 total/night, or $30/person/night?

We also ended up getting concierge for $30/night.

It was for the entire family, not per person.

We had a concierge room booked for $385 per night-at check in we said that we could not stay on the 7th floor (too high for me and our kids) so they put us in a courtyard room for $280 and then added the concierge service for $30/night. (the CM at the front desk actually said "we are going to save you some money"-we didn't expect that.

It was great. We are a family of four and we ate and drank well beyond $30 worth of things each day (not that we are pigs, but they offered so much) It actually saved us money-we ate breakfast, snacks, and pretty much a full dinner every day-it would have cost way more than $30 in any of the restaurants for all of that.

Try for an upgrade-if you aren't given one at check in ask if you can pay for an upgrade to concierge-most likely it will only be about $30/night.

I don't know why it is cheaper to upgrade to concierge than if you book it directly-I have yet to figure that out.

Have fun

The upgrade was $30 per day for the room. We were given a concierge room on the 7TH floor which can only be accessed by your room key. It had a great view and had we booked it ahead it would have been over $100 more per night. BUT if you wait until check-in you run the risk of them not having occupancy. I paid $159 per night total. It doesn't hurt to ask what's available for upgrade at check-in.:)

We had inquired about it Thanksgiving week at check-in, but DH wanted the courtyard view instead (which we had booked). Boy, after about the second day of spending way too much at Roaring Forks, and definitely when we passed by the tables on the 7th floor on our way to be flag family, had we realized what a foolish mistake we had made! Go for it if it's offered.

We too are going to be at the WL the last week of value season. I also was wondering about the upgrades there. It seems that alot of people are getting them at this resort. Do you have to ask for them or are you offered them? This is not the same as an upsell, correct? That would be more along the lines of being asked about the conciere (sp) level for $30/night more, right? I have asked for a standard room w/bunks; although the bunks aren't that necessary. Could that make a difference wether we are asked about an upgrade or not? Thanks for the info. We leave in 60 days!!

Boy, this sounds great. We have a Courtyard room booked for the third week in January. I will definately be asking for this.

It sure would make the anniversary trip more special!;)

If you want to guarantee a better view your best bet is to book one. Upgrades are not always available nor are they always free. You may get an "upsell" but not necessarily a free upgrade. Yes it does happen but if your heart is set on a good view you are better off booking it to ensure you get it. Upgrades depend entirely on the capacity of the hotel and person that checks you in. Asking politely and being super nice to the clerk checking you in may help. The worst thing that can happen is they say no.

Just so everyone is aware, you are not guaranteed the same view if you upgrade to concierge for the extra charge. You can ask the CM what views are available before making the switch at check-in.
