WL Transportation Questions

The transportation system is a bit confusing to me. I have found a site that lists what busses to take to get to which parks but it doesn't seem very efficient.

For example, it says to take the #2 bus to Epcot and allow at least 25 minutes to get there. Wouldn't it be quicker to take the boat (I believe there is one) to the CR and then the monorail to Epcot? Maybe it would take the same amount of time but what about all those stops the busses make?

Could past WL guests help me out? I would like to avoid the busses as much as possible as I will be alone with two toddlers and a double stroller that is a bear to lug around.:faint:

What is the most efficient or even fun way to get to each of the parks from WL? And what are the easiest ways to return?

Any suggestions would be helpful.

On another note, are there any bunk bed rooms on the concierge level?

Thanks.

Diana

Diana, we stayed last summer at the Lodge and did well with the buses. I remember we took the bus to Epcot and I think it made only 1 stop at Ft. Wilderness. Of course you could take the boat to the Magic Kingdom area, then go up the ramp to the main monorail, but then you'd have to switch to teh Epcot monorail. I don't recall a boat to the Contemp or Poly, but there certainly probably is one. Remember, though, that from where the boat would drop you at Contemp, there is a bit of a walk inside and up to the higher floor to catch the monorail.

One afternoon we "raced." My daughter and I waited for the bus form Epcot "back" to the Lodge. Hubby and son took the monorail to TTC, then a bus to WL. They beat us by about 2 seconds --we saw them get off a bus just in front of us. SO maybe most of the travel options wind up taking about the same amount of time?

FYI, I just read in Passporter that the new Disney buses have adjustable steps that make it easier to climb on if you are disabled or lugging strollers. Hope this helps! Sorry can't help about the bunk bed issue.

We stayed at the Lodge back in October and I found the transportation to be very efficient.

I think with a big double stroller, your best bet to Epcot would be the bus.

There is a smaller boat that goes to CR where you could catch the Monorail to TTC and switch to Epcot Monorail but you would have to fold the stroller on the boat going to the CR. Lots of switching.

At least with the bus, you are on it until you get there- no switching. (I know you wanted to avoid the bus but it might not be so bad and most direct. Just my thought.)

It was great taking the boat to the MK- it is larger boat and if it isn't packed, you can probably keep the kids in the stroller.

We took the bus to Epcot and AK when we went to those parks. The only stop they made was at FW.

Can't help with the bunk beds either.

Have a great trip!

Having stayed at the WL last summer w/2 kids and a double stroller, I would recommend the bus. You still have to fold up your stroller to get on the boat to CR. Then unfold, long walk to main lobby, up TWO elevators, onto the monorail to the TTC, switch to the EPCOT monorail, then its on to EPCOT. Lots of work to avoid a bus. You will get a seat on the bus as you are the first pick up, the FW.

The last time I was in WDW was in 1988 - no MGM, AK, BB, TL, or WL - or kids for that matter! I stayed off site and never left the two parks. All of this will be a learning experience and I'm grateful for your tips.

Wish me luck!

Diana

You certainly can take a boat to the CR and then monorail to Epcot. It's not direct, you have to change monorail at the TTC. Is it faster than a bus? No way to tell on a given trip. All depends on how long you wait for a boat, or the bus. But what's the rush? This is vacation. I prefer to use the boat/monorail option often, partly because I like going through the CR.

For the MK, you can take a direct boat from WL to MK. Sometimes it goes to the campground first. We often take the smaller boats to the CR and walk to MK. There is no bus from WL to MK.
