WL to Epcot

We are booked at WL for three nights. Planning on MK the first two days then Epcot. Would taking the boat from WL to CR and then hopping on the monorail at CR to Epcot be faster than just taking the bus from WL? Seems like a lot of work to do all the switching around, but which ever is faster is the idea.

No, it will be much faster to simply take the bus from WL to Epcot.

Following your route, you would catch the monorail at CR, but then you’d have to disembark at TTC and transfer to the Epcot monorail. We love the view from the monorail approaching and entering Epcot, but that’s the only reason we’d consider boat from WL to CR and then monorail to TTC and finally on to Epcot.

I would say 9 times out of 10 the Epcot bus from the WL would be faster. Using your example you would wait for the boat to CR, walk to the 4th floor to catch the Resort Monorail after going a Security check before the escalators to the Monorail platform.

Ride the Monorail to TTC, walk down the ramps and then back up to the Epcot Monorail platform... you get the idea.

Take the bus.

If someone in your group hasn’t rode the monorail and wants to experience it, this might be something worth trying. Otherwise, I agree that the bus would be more convenient.

Hopefully this is not rude but please no longer take advice from who ever gave you the advice waiting for a boat and 2 monorails would be faster. The bus transportation at WL has always been consistent the actual ride to EPCOT is maybe 10 minutes even if you wait 15 for a bus you would be far ahead of the other way. The EPCOT bus from WL is direct even off hours when the HS and AK bus share with contemporary (this can changes to POLY or GF). The fastest way to get to the contemporary in most cases will be the DS bus which stops at CR after WL although as above it can change to one of the other resorts.

Take the bus directly.
At least you don't have to go to CR for the WL bus to EPCOT.

And when going to HS and AK please also just get on the bus at WL because then you're more likely to get a seat since the bus does then go to CR to pick up more guests.

Thank you all for the information. It made more sense to me to take the bus but I haven't been to DW in 17 years and I have never stayed in a deluxe resort.

The bus is definitely faster but if we were not in a hurry, we would take the more scenic route

FYI, the boat doesn't run to the CR until 3pm. The bus is the most efficient way to go!

Depends.

If we were going to the front of Epcot, we'd take the bus.

If we had dinner in World Showcase we'd probably take the bus to HS and the Skyliner to the International Gateway.

That is one way to do it but there is no way that is faster than taking the bus to the front of Epcot and walking back to any of the restaurants in WS. Since the OP was asking which route is faster I would stay away from this one regardless of where you are trying to get to in Epcot, assumig speed is the priority. Even busing to HS and taking the boat to BW, YC, or IG would be faster.
