WL Sunrise Terrace Guest Count: 10+ Bride & Groom?

Hi guys! I've searched and searched, but I can't figure out if the 10-person guest count at Sunrise Terrace includes the bride and groom. I know that Sunset Point has a 10-person max 'cuz it's so small. But in my search I saw that back in 2004 or so they were allowing up to 15 people at Sunrise Terrace, so I'm hoping they'll let you have 10 + bride and groom at the Wilderness Lodge location.

Does anyone know for sure?

Edited to add: OK, I looked at the DFTW site like I should have in the first place, and it says 8 guests, but....let me know if anyone's been told differently. It seems like lots of things at DFTW are loosey-goosey....

They are actually very strict about the total guests at Sunrise Terrace (WL) and Sunset Pointe (Poly). Eight plus the happy couple, for 10 total. Sorry about that!

Actually, you could fit 10 guests out there. Our WC told me that a few days before the wedding. There are enough seating benches to fit 10 guests. We were supposed to be 12 total - us, our attendants, and 8 guests (the Best Man got sick and couldn't come so we were 11) but there is enough seating for 10 - just maybe don't tell your WC until the last minute

I would not advise this. The contract I had to sign for my Sunset Pointe Vow Renewal, held earlier this year, said the following:

"A maximum of ten (10) guests including the Bride and Groom may attend the Wedding. If more than ten (10) guests attend the Wedding, Disney may (in its sole discretion) immediately cancel the Wedding and you shall be responsible for paying to Disney all applicable cancellation fees."

Not a chance I would take, personally.

Although this may be policy-- i think that the disclaimer there is more for shock purposes. JMO (i have no way of proving this so no flames please). However, I do feel as though its very simple to talk to your coordinator about stuff such as this. They seem to change policies frequently for different people on different occassions. Simply ask your WC and see if you cant work something out. They dont ever seem to follow the same rule twice- as most of us have seen--- maybe you will luck out! You never know till ya ask!

Is it to make room for that trash can? Or do they just want to discourage people from having weddings there...

the poor trashcan gets a bad rap doesnt it!!

I dont think its for fire code purposes or anything like that-- thats why I said I feel as though the 'no more than 10' is there for shock value. I would ask-- whats 1 or 2 more gonna hurt? Ive seen DFTW fudge on much bigger things than this!!

Yeah, I don't remember reading anything like that, but it was 2 years ago. A lot of it is was my daddy calls "Philadelphia Lawyers" i.e. anything to cover their bottoms but they don't actually enforce it. I had a great relationship with my WC and initially I was looking at 12 people and she didn't even pause, it was a non-issue. Granted this was 2005 and Disney changes things all the time!

Lurkyloo - I'd speak with your WC before you right off something you really want! There is seating for 10-12 people on the Terrace plus whoever you have as attendants. Explain to your WC that you have one or two extra people. Like I said, we had 11 and had planned on 12 and no one batted an eyelash. I loved WL Sunrise Terrace - it was the perfect place for us to get married

And you don't see the trashcan! Yeesh! Sorry, but I brought it up on here once and it's run rampant so I can only blame myself I put a tablecloth over it and a bouquet of silk flowers in a glass vase on that and no one knew it was a trashcan (my aunt is one of those hyper-critical people so if anyone noticed it would have been her and believe me she wouldn't have hesitated to tell me!). I don't have pictures of it but here's a sample (from Disney lo-res CD)

I definitely agree that it can't hurt to ask. I just wouldn't advise breaking whatever contract you negotiate.

Same thing with their pontoon boats. A few years ago they allowed 12 guests (10 adults, 2 children) and now it's only 10 (regardless of age or size). If you ask the right person at Disney, he/she will tell you those pontoon boats can actually seat 15 adults but their own rules don't allow more than 10 anymore.

At any rate, I have 21 people in my intimate wedding. My planner knows and says no problem. The planner I had before her, however, did care and I was thrown into a custom wedding. I couldn't justify spending a minimum of $10,000 for one extra guest (that's an expensive guest...) and eventually went back to an intimate. I mentioned the pontoon situation because I wasn't able to get 21 people onto two boats. That was a lot more sticky. I mentioned that to AllEarsNet because they still claim you can put 12 people on a boat, but they don't believe me and their web site still says 12.
