WL Std vs Woods View

I've seen several threads where people said the Std Rooms are only directly above the lobby. Is this correct? Some also said because of the proximity to the lobby, the rooms get a lot of noise. It's only about $159 for me to upgrade to a Woods View room for a 7 night stay. Is it worth it? Can you get a Woods View room in the North wing? Are the rooms more secluded?

I guess it all depends on how much time you'll spend on your balcony and how important it is for you to have a nice view.

A Standard View could be of the service area (where delivery trucks pull in) or the parking lot.

You can get a Woods View on either the north or south side of the resort, but on the south side, it's mostly of the WL Villas.

I called about a room at WL just this week and requested a "standard view". I was told that WL does not have a "standard view room". They have a courtyard, and woods view among other things but nothing called standard. BTW. Woods view was the less expensive of the rooms. Just sharing the info i got.

Not sure who you talked to, but there are standard rooms at the Wilderness Lodge. Possibly none were available for your dates or maybe they had it confused with the Wilderness Lodge Villas.

Yes, maybe they didn't have any "standard view" rooms left for the dates you need.

On my reservation, it had our room listed as "standard view."

We were upgraded to a woods view however, which was mostly of the WL Villas, but was still nice enough because there is a nice spread between the two resorts, which consisted of a walkway, trees and bushes.

If we ever stay there again, I plan an requesting a woods view that faces the north.

When we stayed we requested woods view overlooking otter pond. We received our request, and were put on the 4th floor. Because of a gap in the tree line we could see the castle! It was great! We saw the fireworks thru the trees & some of them were over the trees. What an unexpected surprise!!!!!!!!!! There was only 2 of us & the room had a bunk bed & a full (or queen can't remember) It was great! We know the rooms on both sides of us also had the same view because we overheard them when we were on the balcony! What a magical surprise! :bounce:

I would also love to know that room #. That sounds like a great room. Could 2 children fit in 1 bunk? We have a 5, 4 & 2 year old so 2 would have to share a bed. Also, how are the balconies? I am afraid of heights and always worry about the kids and railings? Thanks for the info.

We were in room 5012. This is a woods view room with bunk beds. We had a great view of the fireworks and the castle. I don't feel my kids would have been comfortable with two in one of the bunkbeds. However, if your 4 and 2 year olds are fairly small it might work. My kids were 7 and 4 when we were there last and they would have felt crowded. The railing on the balcony is okay. I made sure I was always out there with my boys and I kept a close eye on my 4 yo. He's the type that would try to climb the railing if he could figure out a way. So, I'm nervous about stuff like that as well. I definitely wouldn't let the kids on the balcony unless your out there to supervise, especially your 2 yo. We fell in love with WL and are returning this Fall thanks to the FTP!!!!

Do the first floor rooms have a patio with chairs since there is no balcony? The balcony thing still makes me a little nervous. How far was your room from the food court and the pool? It does sound like a great room. To be able to see the castle and the fireworks must be something special.

I honestly can't remember whether the first floor rooms had chairs or not, but it seems like they did. We did not have that far of a walk to Roaring Forks or the pool, but we did seem pretty far from the lobby.
